Like: (1) Bobby responded to all our questions promptly before our travel. (2) Bobby and her staff were kind enough to wait until midnight for us to arrive (as our flight landed Ulaanbaatar late at night). (3) Due to an emergency (there was no hot water due to road construction), she attended to it very quickly and installed hot water for us to use the next day, and also upgraded us to a bigger room when the room we booked was no longer available. (4) The kitchen was always clean and tidy. (5) There were sufficient shower rooms and toilet rooms so I never had to wait to access those facilities, and they were always clean and tidy as well. (6) The room had a power adaptor and some clothes hangers. There were lockers to store valuables. (7) Shoes had be taken off before you enter the common room / living room and the rooms. (8) The hostel was close to a convenience store (GS24), two bakeries, ATMs, Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum, and quite close to Sukhbaatar Square.||Dislike: (1) The place was a bit hard to find at first. (2) The guesthouse is on 1/F (UK system) or 2/F (US system), and there is no lift, so you would have to carry your luggage up the stairs on your own. (3) The pillow was a bit soft. (4) The room could get a bit stuffy without air conditioning or fan. (5) There was a huge desk in our room which took up a bit of space for us to open...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay at UB guesthouse. We were there in the offseason, so we were the only travelers at the place. Bobby is great! She is knowledgeable of the area and can book you a tour, always ready to answer questions and just overall a great person. ||The place is spotless. The bathrooms and showers were always clean. There is a kitchen if one would like to cook food. ||Our room was nice and very warm.||The only thing we didn't enjoy was the whole feel of the place. We almost felt uncomfortable walking through the living room to get to our private room, because there always seemed to be a 'family gathering' there. We felt like we were staying at somebody's house. And don't get me wrong that would be great thing in other circumstances, but it just didn't feel right at UB Guesthouse.||Considering we were the only guest there, there was always someone watching tv, girls were getting drunk one night on the couch in the common area, right outside of our room. I am not sure, but we think may be the girls who clean the place also live there. The place just felt awkward. We definitely recommend it though, the price is right and the location is great too! ||One more thing, we don't know why they advertise laundry services, when they only wash your clothes for you, but you have to find a way to dry them. We thought that was a...
Read moreHighly recommend. In the beginning I leant towards staying at other hostels with more reviews however Bobby was always the one who answered my emails the fastest with the most well explained answers. She was flexible and informative throughout the emailing even though I eventually ended up just jumping in with a group I met over breakfast that was going that morning. She helped me plan an additional trip and when I asked if it was possible to switch a night to camping instead of sleeping in a ger, she supplied all the camping supplies; tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, etc for free. It took all of five minutes in person to sort out a week long trip.
The trip was fantastic, absolutely incredible views, the driver Agi was a gem, and all the families we met along the way were so kind!!
The location is great for vegetarians, next to a loving hut and a brand new Indian restaurant.
Personal packing tips: -Deck of cards (available at any shop in every camp) -Bluetooth speaker -Hot sauce (pick up at the grocery store supply run Bobby sends you on before the trip) -Prunes (also at the city grocery store, highly recommend for any trip longer than 2...
