Well well well … where to start? My husband and I spent a night last week in this “guest house” which is everything but definitely not the typical welcoming guest house you imagine. First of all, none of the taxis in central Ouarzazate knew this place. Although it’s mentioned 2kms from the city center, believe me it’s way far more than that, it’s actually located in a village. When we arrived there was nobody except a group of tourist seating in the main area downstairs having dinner. The owner took less than a minute to welcome us, gave us the room key and said come back for some tea, get the AC remote and to fill out the paperwork. He clearly was in a rush to serve his other clients not caring at all. We immediately felt this wasn’t the right place for us. We travelled 5 hours that day - He asked us if we wanted to have dinner but we should wait until other guests are served (maybe we’re not the same clients?!) and we accepted however we realised this was taking ages, we managed to order food from outside that was delivered to us. We finished to eat when he suddenly knocked our door and said dinner was ready (more than an hour later). Now let’s talk about the room, terrible beds so uncomfortable you can feel the wood…The A/C was broken and we received ice cubes on our heads !! this was the worst night ever we couldn’t sleep , and guess what : the cherry on the top of the cake ? The owner has roosters and other animals in the courtyard you can hear all night !! What a nightmare. We complained through booking and the owner , rude beyond belief , texted us on WhatsApp asking us to...
Read moreMy family and I spent a week at the Maroc Galacx hotel in October.||The Maroc is in a great location, being a short drive from the town centre and walking distance from some shops and the local hamam baths.||Upon arrival into Morocco we were collected from the airport - arranged by our host M'Hamed and within less than 15 minutes we had arrived at the hotel.||We were warmly greeted by M'Hamed himself. Swiftly checked in and shown to our room.||Our room was clean, comfortable and easily accommodated the three of us. ||Every morning we were provided with cooking and tasty meal. And the evenings were blessed with a hearty home cooked local dinner.||During our stay M'Hamed gave us suggested of places of interest to visit and even drove or came with us to some of them. ||The Maroc is family run business. Run by a very friendly and accommodating husband and wife partnership. The hotel itself is Iike welcoming sanctury, home away from home.||I would definitely chose to stay there again when I'm back in that part of the world.||Thank you all at Maroc for helping to make it stay a...
Read moreAmazing stay! A wonderfully surprising place in many ways.||Definitely a hostel where having a car is helpful. When we booked we didn't realise quite how far we would be from ouarzazate - it ended up being a 50dh taxi ride from the centre (after thorough bargaining), and down a very poorly lit back road. It is a 10 minute walk from there to the nearest restaurants / shops (not sure if the hotel provided dinner or not ).||But once through the gates we found an incredibly chilled lush environment, with a beautiful pool and a warm welcome (despite booking at very late notice only an hour previously). Very beautiful place. ||Rooms were reasonably comfy, with decent showers and AC. ||The guardian, Mohammed, was incredibly warm and welcoming. He helped us arrange a very reasonably priced car hire for the week and gave us loads of great info about Morocco (especially as this was our first day). All our conversations were in French though, so not sure how well non Arabic and non French speakers would be able to communicate.||Awesome stay and would...
