The hotel is cozy and beautiful, with a great view of the city. It takes 25 minutes to get there down to the city center, in the evening there are no streetlights halfway back, but you can get there with the help of a phone flashlight. There is only one road by car, very broken, you need to take this into account if you are traveling by car. But all this was worth the views from the hill and the privacy provided by the accommodation.
The main big problem (for which I am forced to give bad marks) was this one. When we checked in, we did not find a remote control for the climate control, we asked the guy at the reception about the remote control. He said that he would bring it later. In the evening, there was no remote control in the room, and naturally it was very cold in the room - 14 degrees. Imagine our surprise when another owner said in the evening that the heating was broken (no blowing) and nothing could be done. We asked to move us to another room where the heating works, but we were told that this was not possible. They brought a second blanket. I slept fully clothed and under 2 blankets and still froze.
It's late December and this part of Morocco is pretty cold at night, how could you not warn them in advance that there was no heating? I think the owners knew about it (and I don't think the heating broke just yesterday), but they kept quiet so as not to lose customers.
But that's not all, there was no hot water either. It was a little bit warm, but it was very cold to take a shower, considering that you had to go outside where it was even colder.
Living without heating and hot water is very uncomfortable. In the end, I'm glad we only had one night, otherwise we would have definitely moved.
I always wish all businesses prosperity, especially in developing countries like Morocco. But you can still buy a portable heater (it's cheap) to give to the tenants. if your heating is broken.
Breakfast, as written above, is tasty, but poor: pastries (flatbreads, muffins), a small piece of goat cheese for two, some jam + olives. The mint tea was very tasty.
The staff is generally very nice.
Probably for this money this accommodation is very good, but I think water and heat are basic things even in the cheapest hostels, and if we are talking about cold regions and seasons, then...
Read moreWe spent 3 nights in this incredibly beautiful house, set in a stunning scenery. The price for the dorm we slept in was really good, the staff are all very friendly, helpful and interesting to talk to. It's a rather small hotel, so the atmosphere is intimate. Dinner exceeded our expectations, it was creative and the tastes were very well balanced. The owner Chafik is very warm and his vision for the place is truly inspiring. I will be back if I can!! If you arrive by bus, don't go with one of the people offering you mini taxis (I don't mean the official blue petit taxis)! Unless you are up for an adventure 😆 Going uphill, we were scared that the car would fall apart, and we were rather ripped off with the price. The owner offers a...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed here for 4 nights. We very much needed a relaxing few days after travelling around Morocco.
The house is situated in the hills with a beautiful view over Chefchaouen where you can have incredible sunset views with mountains.
It was nice to stay away from the bustle of Chefchaouen. The Medina is roughly a 20min walk downhill if you are fit! Uphill probably takes more like 30mins. I know this can be challenge for some but we really enjoyed the walk. It was worth it for the amazing views!
The host is really accommodating and the food was amazing. It was some of the best food I have had in Morocco.
It was really the perfect place to stay for the rest we very...
