Hôtel Tomboctou — Hotel in Tinghir

You must be aware that Tinehir is a small town in a remote desert location so there are very limited options from which to choose. If you keep this in mind & have previously traveled to locations that are frequented by trekkers, campers, desert-camp lovers etc. then you will probably not be disappointed. The hotel is located on a small side street a few blocks from the main road & down a street that has poor lighting at night, but not much reason to return to the main street area at night anyway. The exterior appearance & entrance/lobby will most likely not impress since the place gives off a rather tough impression, & the stairs, public areas & rooms are a somewhat rough looking compared to larger city hotel offerings. However, don't be turned off until you take a good look since the place is quite clean & has good housekeeping & the entire staff are eager to help & offer pleasant service. The dinner is served in an attractively decorated tent-like room & offered several options from which to choose & was delicious with big serving size & well priced. The hotel also offers both beer & wine for those who care to imbibe. Our room had A/C which could be important in the summer, but No TV if that is an issue in your hotel search. Our first apprehensive concerns were replaced with a clean basic room, a good dinner & pleasant service. This is a great place to stay in Tinerhir.I booked one night but ended up staying for two.First of all I want to pay tribute to the staff- Hassan,David and Mouah....Friendly and welcoming they helped me to feel at home from the moment I arrived....My room was clean and very comfortable and comfortably warm because of the air conditioning....The restaurant at this hotel is one of the cleanest I have come across in Morocco...Breakfast was included in the price of the room and it was excellent....I had dinner there also each night and lunch on the day I was leaving...Many thanks to Hassan for taking me to the bus station on the afternoon I was checking out....A top class place to stay....Clean,comfortable,friendly and great value for...

This hotel isn't super fancy but it does have a lot of character. The rooms are all decorated with different themes, and they have some really interesting African and Berber artwork around the lobby. The rooms were well-cleaned. The pool could use a good cleaning though, and the showers in the rooms are very small and don't work great. Also the seats around the pool are getting old, and we thought we would break them if we kept sitting on them, so they need some new outdoor furniture.
