I stayed at this hotel recently for business purposes. Had an event that I was involved in which was also held at the hotel so it was convenient. ||||First impression - this hotel look dated. Like i stepped into a hotel back in the early 90s. The furniture, decor and overall atmosphere looks like it has seen better days. But, I have to say that the hotel is clean and the staff members are very friendly, polite and helpful. Some may not understand English well but they try their best to accommodate.||||The room that I got was huge - a junior suite - that could easily fit 3-4 persons comfortably. It was located on the ground floor right at the end of this long corridor which, thankfully, was facing the main road (or it would have been really secluded and quiet...too quiet). Room was clean but it had an "old room" smell, not musty, just....old. It was neat and tidy, the bathroom was sparkling clean and also huge, located in the middle of the suite. The room was not well lit though, there were many light fixtures but the lights still seemed dim, the room still felt rather dark and there were many shadowed areas. There was only one main switch for the whole room other than the toilet lights and a small bedside light facing the floor. There were mosquitoes in the room (likely because it's so dark and there're a lot of plants nearby) but it wasn't so bad. ||||I didn't try going into the swimming pool but it looked inviting enough. ||||The breakfast was simple. Very basic. But at least they make fresh fruit juices with real fruits, not the boxed up fruit concentrate usually served at bigger and newer hotels. ||||Overall, it's a hotel to go to if you are on a tight budget (or in my case, because some other party arranged my...
Read moreI had spent 2 nights (29th-30th Dec and 31st Dec-1st Jan 2019) for New Year 2019 with my family and friends family. Actually, I booked the hotel due to the location with reasonable price. Room are big and location is best for New Year Countdown in Mandalay. ||||But before you book this hotel, you need to accept the following:||1. The hotel is a bit old without proper renovation. ||2. Shower tap are not working properly (may be some rooms might have worked)||3. The water heater heater is not working (During December onwards, the temperature in Mandalay is around 15-20 degree celcius)||4. Breakfast is just the mediocre. (you can go to the nearest restaurant to have breakfast, you can go to GENERATION just across the road or Shwe Pyi Moe just around the corner of Hilton which is just beside of this Hotel.||5. If you get the room in the ground floor close to the kitchen, you will hear shouting of staffs in that kitchen or cleaners in early morning.||||These are the experiences i got during my stay.||||So if you can accept these facts, you should choose this hotel due to very...
Read moreI have stayed here twice over the past nine month. The first time I was returning to Yangon from Chin State vis Mandalay Airport. My Chin friends insisted they find a very good hotel for me after roughing it a bit in Mindat Southern Chin State. They asked around from locals and took me to three different hotels neither of them they considered was good enough for their old Australian friend. When they arrived at the Mandalay Swan they went in had a look around spoke to the reception staff and came out to tell me they wouldn't find a better hotel if they kept looking. The four of us stayed two nights and grey were right. It is a wonderful hotel and the staff are great. So when I returned to Myanmar early this year we flew from Yangon to Mandalay on our way to Chin State and naturally stayed at the Swan Hotel again. Four of us are going back to Myanmar in late June two of my Ausssie friends have never been before so I am taking them to Southern Chin State vis Mandalay and will be staying at the...
