Highland Lodge Hotel — Hotel in Yangon

Mold is mold no matter how many toilet fresheners are used.||You may expect the insipid stuff on walls in a tropical climate but really if you own an accommodation business and don't consider that your PAYING guests are breathing the nasty spores while sleeping,then you are not in the right business. Customer care is what hospitality is based on. I was tempted to write a big sign and leave it for the cleaner. Bleach kills mold dead. Not mold kills guests dead.... But it would have been a waste of paper. The hot water tap was cold. So my husband got maintenance to take a look. They informed me -- there is hot water. My next shower was once again cold... No hot water, my husband assured me, he felt it himself hot water, coming from the shower. Of course there was hot water, silly me for looking at the big black letter H on the shower tap and expecting this is where the hot water will spout from. No that's the cold water tap, not the hot water tap. Oh how us westerners are so unimaginative.||I had 30 minutes to get showered, packed and have my breakfast because the woman at reception forgot my 7 am wake up call. She was very sorry she forgot. I don't believe the airline company would have refunded my missed flight on the basis of her apology. Lucky I am an intrepid traveller and always arrive at airports hours before I have to.||My last comment on this accommodation is beware.` I booked a standard double room with a/c wifi. Upon arrival they took me to my room which was twin single beds right down the back of the compound. You have to take a #4 bus to get to the room. Plus the Niagara Falls of stairs which was not suitable for a couple in their late 50's with 4 suitcases and one skinny porter. So we declined this incorrect room allocation. Instead for a few more USA DOLLARS we were shown a standard double room with a/c and wifi. Ask me how this is different to what I booked online I can't say. But the hotel said it was. In a moment of frustration as I was about to argue the point I remembered the online booking confirmation was in my iPad which has a very flat battery.||The location is away from everything if you want cheap then keep looking as the price online is not the reality. Unless there was a massive miscommunication with my booking and this kind of error Never happens to other people....||The recommendation for management... This hotel has surpassed my expectation massively. The room is extremely clean, the air conditioning is not at all loud and very efficient. The bathroom is brilliant, and instant hot water!||The tv has about 6 English channels which is more than enough, the minibar is well stacked and well priced.||The laundry service is fast and very reasonably priced, and the breakfast is great, good omlettes and fresh fruit!||And on top of that the staff are amazing, they will happily book a taxi for you and get cheaper non-tourist rates, also the owner gave us a lot of help deciding what to do here going above and beyond what we expected, which has really pleased us and made our stay that extra bit more pleasant and personal.||The staff are very attentive too, and try to make your stay as comfy as possible.||Great place, for an awesome price, very quite, and out of the city so no traffic noise and lots of wildlife to keep you entertained outside.||The ONLY complaint bieng extremely picky besides the occasional powercut is in heavy rain the metal roof makes a bit of a racket. Didn't bother me at all but light sleepers might want a different room in monsoon season.||How this isn't higher rates is...
