A Peaceful Getaway During a Meaningful Training – My Stay at Hotel Sarathi, Dhulikhel
I had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Sarathi in Dhulikhel during a training program on surface soil erosion mapping using hydrological modelling, held from 27–30 March 2024. The experience was a perfect combination of professional development and peaceful retreat.
Hotel Sarathi is located just about 30 km from Kathmandu, nestled in the hills of Dhulikhel. The peaceful environment and stunning natural beauty immediately set the tone for a productive and refreshing stay. The Himalayan views from the room balconies were nothing short of mesmerizing—sunrises and sunsets were a visual treat each day.
The hotel facilities were excellent. My room was clean, spacious, and well-furnished, offering both comfort and functionality during the training period. The conference hall was well-equipped, providing an ideal space for presentations and group discussions related to hydrological modelling and GIS-based soil erosion analysis.
One of the standout features of Hotel Sarathi was the hospitality of the staff. They were incredibly courteous, always ensuring that we had everything we needed, whether it was related to our stay or the training logistics.
The in-house restaurant served a variety of tasty dishes, and I especially enjoyed the Nepali veg thali—a wholesome, local delight. The outdoor swimming pool and sun deck provided a much-needed space to unwind after long sessions of technical learning.
Overall, my stay at Hotel Sarathi was not only comfortable but also inspiring. The peaceful setting greatly complemented the learning environment, helping us stay focused while also allowing time to relax. I highly recommend this hotel for both personal getaways and professional programs, and I look forward to returning...
Read moreA decently good hotel in Dhulikhel!!!|September 2024|Hi All,| We were to tour Dhulikhel in Nepal & had a tough time to select a decently good hotel. Had selected quite a few hotels & was not sure about the hotels comfort. At the last moment, selected hotel Sarathi based on the reviews but wasn't sure how the property would turn out to be but folks, believe me, the last-minute booking of the hotel proved to be good for me & my wife!!! Must say that, this property turned out to the expectations I had in mind while selecting the hotel. It is a quiet hotel which any tourist could yearn for!!! I will come to the pros & cons of this hotel.|PROS:|1. Quite a decently good hotel which is about 10 minutes walking distance from the nearest store where one can buy chips & soft drinks.|2. About 30 minutes walk from local market.|3. If one is lucky, they can see the Himalayan range from the hotel, a sight to behold!!!|4. Rooms are decently good for the price.|5. About 30-40 kms from Kathmandu.||CONS:|1. The shower door was not quite adequate to stop the water from flowing out of the bath tub.|2. Not a lavish with variety breakfast as would be expected.|Overall, a decently good hotel with quite a few things to improve on but overall happy with the hotel. Can recommend this hotel to any family or couples visiting...
Read moreWe didn’t stay at Hotel Sarathi, but we went over a few times for dinner during our stay next door at Dhulikhel Village Resort. One big plus is the view from Hotel Sarathi, which is much better than the one at the resort — wider and clearer, making it a great spot to relax and dine.
Food-wise, it was a mix of hits and misses. The mutton dishes (mutton chop, mutton biryani, local chicken curry) were disappointing — the meat was dry and tough, and the mutton chop portion was rather small. The Chicken Masala Burger was also just average, with the masala spices not coming through and the patty a little too dry. On the flip side, the pork chop and rice dishes like Nasi Goreng and the biryani itself were tasty and well done.
The star of the menu for us was the Momo platter, which was so good that we ordered it twice across our three dinners here. The spaghetti was also nicely done, showing their versatility beyond local fare. Desserts were a pleasant surprise too — the brownie with ice cream was rich and satisfying, one of the better ones we had in Nepal. Coffee options (latte, cappuccino, americano) were consistently good as well.
All in all, while not every dish shines, the combination of some strong highlights, solid coffee, and excellent views makes Hotel Sarathi a worthy dining spot if you’re...
