This place is great whether you are staying for 1 night or for many months. I stayed for 5 months from July 2023 to January 2024 and was delighted with every aspect of my time there - I would have gladly stayed longer if my time in Nepal hadn't come to a close. For context, I am from the U.S. and I was in Dhulikhel pursuing research at the local hospital. Uttam's pension was everything I could have hoped for and more. It is walkable distance through town to campus, to shops, to the bus station, and to restaurants. It is also close to one of the most popular spots in Dhulikhel, especially the Thousand Steps for views, and exercise, and for a longer hikes to Namobuddha if you have a day to spare. My room was great, clean and spacious, and had its own toilet attached - yes, a European one! I could pick avacodas from my window and oranges from trees in the garden. There were always people coming through to stay from the U.S., Europe, or from other countries to work at the hospital or for tourist purposes, so I got to meet and hang with many other people who have links to Nepal. Uttam and his nephews also treated me as part of the family. I ate with them pretty much every night, so I definitely liked the food and the company, and it also got high marks from people who would come visit. The coffee was good too and there is beer and other drinks available for the evening. Uttam is a certified tour guide and will take people trekking if they want - though I didn't do that and he certainly doesn't push you in that direction - more like he will assist you if you ask him. Even so, he is very knowledgeable about the area and helped me find shorter hikes, places of interest, or arrange transport by bus or car at rates below what I would have found on my own. They helped me get clothes mended or get haircuts by taking me into town, and they did my laundry for free. They gave me lifts on their scooter. He even let some people staying there borrow his scooter to take a trip! He also arranges for those who want to visit his home village about 3 hours away by bus where people often volunteer. Finally, his friends often come over, and I got to know some of them quite well, so I got to meet more people than I would have done otherwise. Lots of watching cricket together. All in all I would recommend the place very very highly for anyone who wishes to stay in Dhulikhel or wishes to take a short trip out of Kathmandu. Oh - an you can see the Himalayas while sitting and eating breakfast outside. I hope to stay there again when I get...
Read moreI had the pleasure of meeting Uttam, the owner and responsible of Innate Pension and Saping Medaka Family School, when I was going to Nepal. I was volunteering in his school for one month.||||I can from the bottom of my heart admit that I have never seen such kindness, openness and love from both Uttam, the children in the school and the local community. Firstly Uttam hosted me in his guesthouse Innate Pension in Dhulikhel. This guesthouse has all the facilities I wished for, and even better, it is run in a very sustainable and ecological way. We also cooked delicious food and shared very good moments here. The revenue received from this guesthouse goes to cover the daily survival of his school in Saping. It is not a government school, so all the resources that is available is most welcome!||||Also taking a trip to Saping and the school is an experience you would not miss for the world. The pure, beautiful and simple way and life there is incredible. The hike to get there is also somewhat challenging, but manageable, and very beautiful as it takes you through the landscapes and some neighbourhoods.||||All in all, I can not justify how much I would like you to experience this place. For me this was an amazing experience and it will forever have a place in your heart. More friendly, welcoming and warm people is...
Read moreI spent over 1 month in this guesthouse last November and I had a really good time there! Room was clean, people were nice and they treated me very well. There were opportunity to eat meals with the family and there were washing machine which visitors can use. I liked the environment, it's located in the area around the beautiful mountain landscape and lots of forest. Location is only 10 mins walk from the bus station. Rooftop were my favorite, I have never seen brighter starry sky than there! ||||The host is from Saping-village where I also visited. It was a good experience, which I'll never forget. If you want to see Nepalese life outside the cities, Saping is a good place to go and you will be safe with Uttams guidance.||||I can warmly recommend this guesthouse for the people who will visit in Dhulikhel. Staying in this place you can support a local family and you can get a real taste of Nepalese culture and hospitality. Thank you...
