Perched on Windy Hill at 7200 feet above sea level, this 4-star hotel offers a blend of natural beauty and comfortable amenities, making it a well-regarded destination for both leisure and adventure. Location and Views (5/5): The undeniable highlight of Club Himalaya is its spectacular location. Guests consistently rave about the breathtaking 360-degree views of the Himalayas, including stunning sunrises and sunsets from almost every corner of the property, especially from the private balconies in each room. Its distance from the bustling city of Kathmandu provides a serene atmosphere, ideal for relaxation and connecting with nature. For those interested in exploring, the hotel is conveniently located near local shops, restaurants, and hiking trails, including the popular Lookout Tower. Accommodation (4/5): The hotel offers 70 rooms, including standard and deluxe types, each featuring high ceilings, air conditioning, cable TV, and a private balcony to maximize the mountain views. Read moreI don't hand out 5 stars easily. In fact, I usually only write reviews when I'm truly and immeasurably impressed. That’s exactly why I’m here writing about Club Himalaya.
The People:
We booked three rooms, including a Junior Suite, and our wonderful experience began right from the first call with Aashra. Incredibly informative and genuinely caring, she truly understood what customer service is about. I think she’s from Sales (not sure), but she handled everything with the warmth and professionalism of someone who really cares.
I told her it was a last-minute booking for my parents’ wedding anniversary and asked if she could make it a little special. What she and the team did went far beyond expectations. I won’t go into the specifics (so others don’t assume the same will happen), but the thoughtful touches prepared in the Junior Suite moved my mum to tears. Staff—if you’re reading this, you know what you did. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Then came Shankar (Adhikari, I think?)—another standout. He welcomed us and showed us the room, and we assumed that was the end of his role. We were so wrong. Throughout the stay, he was everywhere, constantly ensuring we were looked after. When my dad casually asked about the history of Nagarkot, Shankar launched into an engaging, detailed explanation that my dad absolutely loved. He kept checking in, making sure everything was spot-on, and if something wasn’t, he’d get it fixed immediately—even if we said not to worry. That is hospitality. Shankar is an absolute gem for Club Himalaya.
There were many other lovely interactions with other staff—too many names to remember—but everyone (barring one small mix-up with boiling my infant’s bottles, likely due to busy check-in time) was professional, kind, and helpful. No complaints—only compliments.
The Venue:
What a stunning place. The views are exactly as shown on the website—no filters or Photoshop. That was so refreshing. We didn’t get lucky with the weather (clouds covered the mountains), but had it cleared up, the view from the massive balcony Jacuzzi in my parents’ suite would have been something else.
A heads-up: accessibility could be a challenge for some. I had a pram with me and while there are ramps from the parking lot, there are quite a few stairs after checking in. I imagine there are more accessible rooms in other wings, so it’s best to check with the hotel directly.
A Small Note on the Jacuzzi:
This isn’t really the hotel’s fault, but it’s worth mentioning. The common jacuzzi was too cold on the first night (maybe freshly refilled?), and then way too hot the next morning—around 55°C. I later noticed the temperature control was very close to the tub, which means guests could tamper with it. Might be worth moving it or locking the panel to avoid accidents. Still not docking points for this—it’s just a suggestion.
The Food:
Wow. The buffet dinner was incredible—so many delicious options. Just when I thought they couldn’t top it, they set up a live BBQ and a momo station outside. I may have shouted “YES!” out loud. Everything was superb. Even the odd addition of eggplant in the hummus didn’t throw me off—it was all delicious. Maybe don't call it hummus. Haha
TL;DR:
If you’ve got the means, check this place out. It’s not crazily priced compared to other hotels, and once you experience the service, food, and atmosphere, you’ll probably think it’s underpriced. Club Himalaya, thank you for an...
Read moreExperience was quite good. Location is good with an awesome view from the balcony itself. We booked Deluxe premium heritage wing. Room was spacious while washroom was quite conjusted. No walk in shower as there is a small bathtub. You need to take shower in the bathtub itself. I was hoping there to be a king size bed but two beds were interconnected space was enough but talking about comfort not like a single king sized bed. Except for the bed and washroom everything about the room was nice with nice balcony space where you can watch the sunrise from there.
Service was good. Check in time was 2 pm. We accessed the room at 2.40pm. They clearly addressed the situation, which was good from their part. We went there on saturday as most rooms were booked for the friday night which was the reason for a bit late check in time. We didn't had a problem, I'm just mentioning it here for other people to just give a call before arriving. Staff were nice and professional. Room service is only till 9.30pm.
Dinner and breakfast were included in the total package price of 17k. I'll give dinner 4/5 whereas for breakfast 3.5/4. Dinner had alot of choices. Among the items that we tried butter chicken was quite disappointing otherwise everthing was worth a try. Chicken BBQ was quite good. I didn't find any mutton items but there were enough options to choose from like smoked pork, coated and fried fish and various other items like bibimbap, fish roll, chicken roll, salads etc. Had a whiskey. Price was reasonable to the place. Extra filtered water was provided in the room which I thought nice of as compared to buying bottled water.
Swimming pool and jacuzzi was crowded. Water quality was very bad due to the crowd. Smelled bad and I had the most redness in the eyes in my whole life more than when swimmed in various public pools. Would love to recommend them to build a better outdoor swimming pool.
Location is great. Calm and serene environment. Better for family trip in the weekends and for couple better to go in the weekdays. Road leading there is...
