The cottage was nice and clean on arrival.
Radiators in two rooms were rusty.
When we arrived we did so with shopping. We expected a fully equipped kitchen as advertised. However, there was no baking trays. No oven gloves. To cook our pizza was very difficult. We did speak to customer service but it seemed too much trouble so we just made do.
After a day of being in the cottage it was infested with ants. I would suggest if holidaying here to take ant traps otherwise tables and sides get covered in ants.
The washing machine is outside in a cupboard. At first I was ever so angry getting to the resort as I ordered a cottage with a washing machine and thought for about half an hour I was going to have to get my karen on. Then my husband found it outside.
In our luxury cottage most of the chairs were frayed and ripped. Really could have done with updating.
Our duvet cover had holes in them.
The tv is not a smart tv so no netflix.
It rained most of the week so it was hard to do much. The offerings at the resort are a few swings for kids, a pull raft for the lake, an air trampoline, a swimming pool with very limited opening hours. There is a mini golf course. It looked a little tired though. There is a soft play area but its only really useable by those under 6. There was a restaurant but it was never open during our stay. The shop on site is very limited. It is also expensive. The nearest place is a Jumbo or a Plus. It is about a 15 minute trip. Most of the items in supermarkets here are expensive. I would advise those travelling from england to stock up in france beforehand.
The sauna in our 8 person cottage struggled to fit 2 people. So if you are expecting a big sauna be aware of this. The sun shower is lovely. However if one person uses it there is a cool down time before it can be used again.
The beach is beautiful but the two places to eat here I would not rate. There is a lovely place a 5 minute walk from the resort which is very nice for food.
The pool is very small. It is heated which is nice. No where to hang towels though. One shower for private use for the whole resort otherwise a few showers poolside.
We enjoyed our trip but would have loved to have known a little bit more about the facilities before we arrived. I am quite a prepared person and thought i had researched well beforehand but clearly not well enough. I just hope this review helps...
Read moreOur stay at Dormio/Landal Nieuwvliet was phenomenal! We've been going to Landal parks for nearly two decades because we always have a positive experience. Sometimes we go with just the four of us and sometimes extended family tags along and a great time is always had. This particular park was outstanding in its housing units. The house we stayed in was awesome! It looked like it was just all refinished and it was spotless. This coming from a very particular person. Big bedrooms so the kids don't fight! Comfy pit couches, too. (Bring cards or games, but if you forget, they've got them in the shop.)We loved the park itself. It's very spread out, super quiet, surrounded by the polders and just a short walk from the beach. How awesome is that?! We have two teen boys with Autism and in this park, we actually left them to venture off alone because most of the areas do not permit cars and the few cars that do drive around, drive really slow. Yay! They have activity areas scattered throughout the park that are great for older kids AND fiesty kids at heart. Wink Wink Our boys loved zooming around on the pedal go carts. Whoo hoo! We stayed by the pond which gave us a lot to look at. The pool was neat and tidy, but lame compared to some of the awesome subtropical parks at other Landals. The staff was exceptionally pleasant. The restaurant was actually pretty good, which is something I can't usually say for the other parks we went to. Besides the pizza, the prices are ok. We did forget our towels for all of the rooms. Make sure ya don't do the same, but if ya do, hit up the Hema in the nearby town. (They have great towels.) Even the white and rose wine from the tiny shop on the park's property was pretty good! (Insert cheeky emoji of your choice.) I already miss the place and can't wait to return to see what it's...
Read moreIt's strange how you can get so much more value for money by taking the Eurotunnel... That's how we've been describing this trip to our friends: it's kinda like Centre Parcs, only much better, cheaper, better value, nicer accommodation (by a mile!) and in Holland. And for us it was actually a shorter drive as it was only two hours from Calais.||I lost count how many different types and sizes of bungalows they have - it's really like a little village with houses that all look different. The houses are all very modern, very clean (my wife commented how when we moved beds to push them against the wall, so that our little one wouldn't roll off the bed, there was no dust underneath. That's like the highest praise from my wife! :)||It's close to the beach - c.10 minutes' leisurely bike ride. The beach (and it was hot and sunny when we stayed there) was lovely - fine white sand, a cafe, easy access...||The only downside is that the bungalows didn't have a BBQ. You could either buy disposable ones, which aren't great to cook on, or... you'd better bring one along. That's my only recommendation to Landal - put permanent BBQs near every house and it will be just perfect.||We'd love to (and...
