Bounty Motel — Hotel in Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community

Stayed there for 2 nights from 9th Oct. The tv was in the corner of the lounge on a small square table, obstructed by the curtain. I went to move the table and the leg (where it joins to the table) pinched my finger causing a blood blister. My friend turned the table over, to tighten the leg, which was unable to tighten. All 4 legs were the same...hanging by the screws! My friend took the table to reception. A while later the Owner/Manager came with a bedside drawer to sit the tv on. A couple of hours later, i could smell an unpleasant odour coming from the bathroom.. as the clock ticked the smell got worse! Unbearable...my friend was reluctant to report it 2 reception..because of the table thing..but i was adament to tell them or i will be leaving..it was so gross!! We both went to report it. This older guy appears with attitude. I told him what the problem was. He replied 'oh, we have spent all afternoon looking around in Kerikeri for that stand to sit the tv on!' (are you for real mate??) " oh did you see the table?" I asked. He said he didnt, as he went out back. The owner came out, cheerful and willing to help. So thankful he cares about his guests and only wants 'to keep his customers happy'. Both problems solved. I have so much more to say about our stay in that particular unit, that annoyed me. I will not stay there again.. once...

Shocking experience. We booked and paid for a two bed apartment. We arrived at 7pm to checkin and found our room had been given to a guy without any proof of identity or booking confirmation. They didn't know where he was and didn't have his mobile number. They called us while we were out to dinner and said they had moved him out and we could have our room, they would have a person outside the room for when he gets home because he had a key. We didn't feel comfortable about this, we didn't want an altercation and asked for an alternative room. They offered us a studio room at the motel next door. I advised them we had booked a two bed apartment which was 56 sqm, the studio apartment was 30 sqm. It was not comparable. As well as giving us a small room they gave us a carpark for the room where the rubbish bins were located. They said it was comparable in quality but we wouldn't have to pay the difference in cost? I had already paid $230 two days prior. It was 9pm at night , I was tired and angry but realized it was unlikely we would find another room. The whole experience was disgusting. No one should go through this. It ruined our holiday.

If I could give this place a zero star I would. My partner and I just recently stayed here and I have to say it was the worst experience I had so far at staying in a motel. When we first arrived a lovely lady welcomed us and showed us to our rooms and hearts dropped. I understand that for the price of $100 we were going to get the basics of a room but we were not expecting mold to be everywhere and things to be on the verge of disrepair. The walls are so thin that it feels like you’re sharing a room. I wanted to make a complaint saying the room is not up to code and change places, but my partner did not want to make a fuss. Furthermore the service by the older gentleman was pure disrespectful. I would never recommend here to anyone, and would never stay here again.
