Breakwater Motel — Hotel in Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community

Stayed here for one night 11th October. Great service at reception when we arrived, they knew who we were as soon as we stepped in. Great location, short walk to the shops and restaurants. Directly opposite the beach. Spectacular ocean views from the front units. We stayed in unit 11, upstairs and facing beach. Stunning views. Balcony from master bedroom and also from lounge. Fantastic little one bedroom unit with everything you need for one night or much longer stay. Kitchen has mini stove top (2 pots), 4 seater dining table and 2 seater couch (quite comfy) and 2 other lounge chairs. 2 tv's. Lovely bathroom with huge shower, plenty of hot water. Very tidy and super clean. Lovely white bed linen and fluffy white towels. Right on the corner so quite a lot of traffic, but very good sound proofing when doors closed. Quite a lot of passers by, so not very private with curtains open. Only thing stopping me from giving it 5 🌟 was the very firm bed. I sort of expected a quality bed for $243 a night. It was not a quality bed, too hard and had poor sleep and sore back next morning. Pillows also low quality, definitely not feather. Lots of them which was great but not high quality. The bed is probably matter of opinion. I would still recommend staying here as the location is superb and views from front...

A classy, comfortable, immaculately clean, well equipped yet affordable waterfront accommodation in the most perfect location in Paihia. Breakwater is a stones throw from the main centre but far enough out to be surrounded by sea sounds and birds in the forest right next door. This was our second stay at Breakwater Motel in Paihia and just as it were the first time around, we had a wonderful and relaxing time. Lyn and Ken, the owners and hosts were warm and accommodating to all our needs without being intrusive. They are truly great. The one thing I appreciated so much was their hard work at doing everything properly, from the beautiful gardens to the filter coffee provided, sky TV and well equipped kitchen. It made self catering so easy. The sheets were perfectly clean and of great quality, the showers and bathroom facilities were beautiful and big and there was a TV in the lounge and bedroom. We watched the sunrise over the ocean, parasailers, dogs being walked, swimmers swimming off to the islands just off the coast and birds in the beautiful gardens below all from the comfort and privacy of our balcony over a warm cup of coffee. Honestly, I'd go back over and over and can't wait to take...

I've stayed twice already and look forward to getting back and treating friends and family to the best accommodation we've had in the Bay of Island. My wife and I frequent Paihia and Russel as it's our favorite long weekend destination. We've stayed in 4 different spots on multiple times in the area and Breakwater is head and heels above anything else overall. From the immaculate cleanliness to the comfort of each apartment and how well equipped with essentials they are we couldn't recommend this place any more. The owners Lyn and Ken super friendly, caring and helpful. The location is perfect, we've stayed further from town and closer and this is the sweet spot for a location. We genuinely cannot wait...
