Unfortunately the reviews, in my opinion, are not reflective of the accommodation.
The room had a very university dorm room vibe to it (probably because of the cinderblock walls). The windows were so old they would vibrate all night as passing transport trucks drove down the main road. The television has 4 channels. The rooms are so tired and damp basement feeling. And the bathrooms were the worst part really..similar to what you would find in a North American truck stop shower facility. Panel walls, with rolled vinyl flooring the extends about 6 inches up the walls. Yes it's easier for cleaning, but it doesn't make you feel like you're at a motel. Speaking of cleaning though, likely because the windows are so ancient, the number of bugs who call the top corners of the bathroom and bedroom home were plentiful. They don't bother me, but anyone who is affraid of spiders would not like it.
Although you can walk to places easily from this hotel, there is nowhere to walk. I'm not entirely sure what this town offers, besides a stopping place between Wellington & Auckland. If you are passing through the area on extended travel through New Zealand (as my husband & I have been doing for 5 weeks), I would suggest staying in a different...
Read moreVery dissapointed for a 8.6 rating, bought to the attention of the staff of broken things in the room and her reply was well I'm not the manager and you should have checked the star rating...Well infact I did check the star rating but your staff should check to make sure items In your units work, 1 half the electric blanket was not working as it was -1 2 the turntable in the microwave didn't work 3 the TV reception was not really what you call reception more like white lines 4 the phone jack box above the pillows on the bead was hanging off 5 the unit was freezing cold I really could have more to say but the most annoying was the receptionist saying it is a old motel and you should have checked the star rating...Really..I will say they did let us arrive early as we were attending a funeral that day , but also asked for payment after we had paid on line, but there accountant was away, might pay to update your computers to show when...
Read moreI'm a Tour Coach driver and had a recent stay at Forgotton World Motel with a group of Kiwi Seniors. Small town NZ hospitality at it's finest. A clean and comfortable facility and wonderful Staff. Mary on the front desk, the General Housekeeping/Dining Room Staff and Kara - involved in the Rail Cart Tours. All done with a smile. Had a group member needing a new battery in a watch. Mary directed me to Mitre10 (even offered her car for me to drive, but I needed the walk) - excellent service from a couple of youngster's and walked out of Mitre10 with a watch keeping time and the $10 bill paid. Few chats with locals and even a former Coach driver, admiring my coach. Brilliant and happy memories. Returning with my Wife. Group loved the Rail Carts and nearby...
