We stayed here in March 2014, it was our best stay in NZ! I would recommend this place to couples wanting a truly relaxed environment. The host was watching his TV as we strolled in the main building kind of late. We had a lovely conversation about him having been quite the golfer, and the place is right next to the local golf course. ( We were told his wife or partner that normally runs the place was away) We were offered tea in their personal kitchen, and poured milk in a nice porcelain jug to take with us to our chalet, for our morning coffee.
We would love to come back here, and we talk about our stay quite frequently.
The chalet we stayed in,( can´t remember what number it had, maybe 4?) was comfortable, the beds were really good, and the whole atmosphere was country-relaxed.
This place is spot on if you like a serene, relaxed stay, hosts that really care about their place and their guests.
The chalets are smallish but roomy enough for a pleasant stay, and they are BEAUTIFUL with nice weathered grey wooden finish and the loveliest porches.

I can't speak highly enough of Mangawhai Chalets! The accommodation is beautiful, lovingly looked after by the hosts and kept spotlessly clean. The amenities are all well stocked and provisioned. The location is also excellent, just a 2 min walk from Wood St and its shops and eateries.
Linda and Stewart themselves were the most wonderful hosts, who made our whole family feel incredibly welcome. We'd had a tough week the week before and they took wonderful care of us, and were tremendous with our kids - happily taking them in hand to walk around the gardens and look for Bailey, the resident cat, and admire the beautiful flowers.

This is a stunning property. We stopped there on the way back from the far north of the country to Auckland. We wish that we had spent more time at this perfect location; plenty to explore in the area and, of course, relax in the chalet and its gardens. |This was truly a delight to stay there. We were greeted by both Stu and Linda , the owners , on the first evening. They couldn’t do more to help. The place is so well kept; great attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble for Stu and Linda. This was an amazing find and, as mentioned earlier, only wish we’d have stayed longer. We must come back. I would definitely recommend a trip to this part of the world...
