I booked accommodation at the Ohakune Court Motel for the 12th August for 1 night through Agoda. The booking was Non refundable which I have never had a problem with when I have booked through Booking.com in the past. My daughter took me to the accommodation, we went in and it stunk, my daughter said mum, you cant stay here it is awful. I went and saw the lady at Reception, she came into the room and said she couldnât smell anything. First lie. I asked if she had any other rooms but she didnât, I asked for a refund which she agreed to, she disappeared and then came back and said as I had booked through booking.com I would have to get in touch with them and she would do what she had to do her end, I actually booked througb Agoda. My daughter was there the whole time so everything was fine so we went off and tried to find alternative accommodation, which we did and it was lovely. ||I got in touch with Agoda and they said they wanted the name of the person and their title before they could put the refund through. I said I think she was the owner, so they put it through and said I would hear back from the main source. I emailed the Motel and didnât hear anything. The next morning (Sunday) I called the Motel, the lady answered, I explained I was ringing up about my refund and she never said another word and put the phone down, I tried quite a few times to call back but it went onto answerphone. Every time. My daughter took me round to the Motel and she said that she spoke to the owner and he said there is no refund, because she (the lady) couldnât smell anything. I said that you told me yesterday that I would get a refund, I asked to talk to the owner but she said he wasnât there. I told her she was rude and very unprofessional for putting the phone down on me earlier, her excuse was she was busy., but she managed to answer it the first time. I said that I would be complaining and putting it on Social media, her words were, âGo for itâ I had to find another $200 that night for accommodation so the whole1 night turned out to cost me $390.00 which is more than my weekly pension. I went down to spend some time away with my family for my 67th birthday, one I wont forget in a hurry for the wrong reasons.||I agree with cancellation policy if the room is clean and doesnât smell. There is no way I could have slept in that room for the whole night. They shouldnât be running a Motel as they obviously donât have any people skills at all. My daughter was there the whole time and was witness to it all. She works in a Motel in Matamata and couldnât believe the way they reacted. When we got back in the car there was a guy coming out of the room behind the reception and the lady pushed him back in the room. Please heed this warning DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL. The Hobbit Motorlodge, Ohakune were so nice in comparison and done everything to make my stay more...
Read moreHandy to town restaurants and the mountain. An old style motel but it is Clean and tidy with what looked like recent paint and decorating within the unit. Good easy parking. Nice amount of tea and coffee. Shower had poor water pressure and should be better given the amount of money you pay to stay there. Would not recommend a mountain view room as the extra cost is not worth it . No fault of the motel but Mother Nature meant we did not see the mountain for the two days we were there. Ground floor units are the same as the second story but at a much cheaper price. No shower gel for the two days we were there. Desperately needs a heater and extraction fan in the bathroom. Staying in a ski town where temperatures can dip below zero made the bathroom freezing cold and unpleasant when getting changed. A heat pump would also be great instead of a stand alone heater in the main room. Only saw the staff on checking and it is encouraged to just leave the key in the Dropbox on departure. Third step from the bottom of the north end staircase is broken and the only thing stopping you from falling through is the rubber mat screwed to the step. We did not want to ring the bell to let them know as the young mum has at young child which meant having to come down stairs holding the toddler and we just felt bad about that. Please also check the step closer to the top. Sorry but wonât stay again and will look for something that has extras like heat pump, decent shower and a bit more modern. Lady on check in is pleasant and friendly and change our room without fuss when our shower was found to be broken and...
Read moreA lovely spot for a family stay - an easy walk to a playground, and on to the shops, or up to the junction. ||Parking was easy.||Impressed overall with the effort put in to keep the place running since it appears that it's just the one couple with no staff and they were pretty busy the weekend we were there.||But there were a few strange things.||Our room was set up for four, with a full oven. But we only had one small pot and one large frying pan for cooking.||If four people had actually stayed, we would have had nowhere out of the way to put our belongings, and if it had been wet, nowhere to hang anything.||While towels were changed each day and the kitchen bin emptied, the beds weren't pulled up or changed (in a 5 night stay), and we had to go and ask for more dishwash liquid and toilet paper.||||We had a pleasant stay, and we'd stay again in warmer seasons, but probably wouldn't choose this motel in winter, as the room we were in was cold in April and took our whole stay to get warm enough to turn...
