Putaruru Arms Motor Inn — Hotel in North Island

Due to the service (or lack of I should say) and the state of the rooms, this place is a minus 10! Checked in just after 2pm, and the office was closed. Rang a phone number only to be told they would be back at 4. So at 4 was given a key, went to the room and it hadn't even been cleaned, and the smell was gross. Back to the office and complained. Was given another room, which didn't smell as much.Was tired and couldnt be bothered going back to the office. Later on, discovered the fridge didn't work, there was no SKY TV channels as advertised on the website, and the shower box wasn't clean, and the hot water was only luke warm. Went to check out at 8.00am - but you guessed it - the office was closed again. So we left cos we were still gonna be in town till after lunch and would go back to pay for the room. In the meantime, received a phone call from the office (when they finally opened). I was too slow. I should have said I would be back at 4!!! Wasn't worth the $95.00 I got charged!! So I definately would NOT recommend this...

Very disappointing. Got given key for our room (not walked to our unit) - upon arrival at door I started by straightening the door mat. A large dead cockroach greeted us on the floor inside the door. The fridge didn't work. The TV only worked on 2 channels, neither of which were appealing. When I poured wine into the glass there were floaties in it - the glass obviously not clean. Hot points didn't work for charging my phone. Hot water did reach the shower sooner than the 5 minutes we were informed of. Cleanliness was borderline - long term grime evident. Overall a very disappointing place to spend a night - I won't return, and I wouldn't advise others to stay at...

Worse place I have ever stayed in. PowerPoints didn't work. Light in bathroom only worked sometimes. Bathroom smelt of urine. Extractor fan in kitchen didn't work and bathroom one didn't go either. Yhe 2 hotplates didn't work properly, actually one didn't work at all and the second ran on high, wouldn't turn down. No dishwasher liquid or dish cloth or tea towels provided to do dishes. Disgusting dive of a place. Rubbish all piled up outside by permanent winz stayers. If I wasn't so tired from driving I would've left. Definitely not worth $150 a night in a little town.
