Beware, before you ask for something extra. As per Amanda Stewart says in her review below, their prices are okay until you ask for an add on, a real rip off, $2.50 extra, if you want a little more ham. Compare the toasted sandwich photo in my review of Crystal Bay Bakery in Taihape, for a little extra ham at a cost of $1.00. Or am I being a bit picky? I have been here before, and the service and food was far better then than it is now. My croissant was tough to cut through, and the extra ham was pretty small for the extra $2.50 cost. My wfe had a date scone which was great as was the coffee.

A very enjoyable lunch in a refreshing and relaxing atmosphere. The decor is simple and adequate, but needs that rocking table sorted! 😁. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they appeared to take pride in where they were and what they did. They have great gluten free options that are coeliac safe and the iced coffee was delicious. We thought this place was one of the best cafes we've visited in a long time and will happily visit again when we come through this town. Thanks very much.

I love to give good reviews and travel frequently throughout NZ. I have never written a bad one and this is my first. We stopped here for coffee early morning of 2 Oct 2014. This was the worst coffee and the worst value in many trips around the North Island. Service was indifferent. Coffee was a single shot, poorly extracted - bitter, sour, empty. I drank about a third of it and left it. My sweetheart husband, seeing that I was about to say something grabbed my arm, and walked me out. He agreed the coffee was very poor. Paid around $12.50 for 2 long black and a small piece of slice. I'm guessing that made the coffees around $4 each - for a single shot. Don't drink coffee here! You will not enjoy it, and you will pay quite a lot for...

Cafe closes at 4pm. I got there with my family and in laws at 3:10pm only for a quick coffee before driving away to Taupo (so baby could stretch a bit from car ride(. Staff was already cleaning and visibly not happy to see us coming in at that time.

We were keen on having the coffee there since it was cold outside and I had my 9 months baby with me but with all seats packed away and unwelcoming energy from staff (take away cups only even for dine in) we decided to just go for a walk.

Expected a bit more hospitality for such a quick stop with family based on google reviews so adding my experience to...
