I love to give good reviews and travel frequently throughout NZ. I have never written a bad one and this is my first. We stopped here for coffee early morning of 2 Oct 2014. This was the worst coffee and the worst value in many trips around the North Island. Service was indifferent. Coffee was a single shot, poorly extracted - bitter, sour, empty. I drank about a third of it and left it. My sweetheart husband, seeing that I was about to say something grabbed my arm, and walked me out. He agreed the coffee was very poor. Read moreCafe closes at 4pm. I got there with my family and in laws at 3:10pm only for a quick coffee before driving away to Taupo (so baby could stretch a bit from car ride(. Staff was already cleaning and visibly not happy to see us coming in at that time.
We were keen on having the coffee there since it was cold outside and I had my 9 months baby with me but with all seats packed away and unwelcoming energy from staff (take away cups only even for dine in) we decided to just go for a walk.

As per Amanda Stewart says in her review below, their prices are okay until you ask for an add on, a real rip off, $2.50 extra, if you want a little more ham.
Compare the toasted sandwich photo in my review of Crystal Bay Bakery in Taihape, for a little extra ham at a cost of $1.00. Or am I being a bit picky?
I have been here before, and the service and food was far better then than it is now.
