We stayed at this hotel for one night during our New Zealand travels. The absolute best thing about this hotel is the nice balconies with beautiful ocean views. It was in a good location, only a few minutes drive to downtown and restaurants, and only a few steps outside to a beach walkway. Our room was large, roomy, comfortable, and clean, but seemed a little “worn” and in need of updating. We liked that we had a mini-kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave, appliances, dishes, and basic cookware. The bed was comfortable, and the WiFi was fairly good. The smart TV included Netflix. The nightly room rate seemed a little high to us considering the overall lack of other amenities and in comparison to other similar or higher quality hotels that we have stayed at in New Zealand, but in comparison to other hotels in the Gisborne area, it seemed fair. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The only “negative” about our room was the vented skylights in the kitchen and bathroom. It was windy, rainy, and cool the night we stayed there, and the wind noise as well as the drafty feel of the room was unexpected. We would possibly stay here again for a short stay in warmer weather to enjoy the ocean views.

We stayed here one night with our 2 teens. Awesome location to be based for our brief visit to Gisbourne our our East Cape Road trip. Facilities were excellent, right beside the beach. We had a downstairs unit which gave us ready access to the foreshore walkway. Upstairs will give you a view of the ocean. Fully kitted out kitchen, great shower & comfortable beds. Walking distance to downtown, Captain Morgans cafe just along the beach for coffee & smoothies. Tūpapa self guided history walk starts nearby. Our first day was brilliantly sunny & I was too busy to take photos. The second day it rained hence the rainy outlook picture. Covered walkways at the hotel allowed us to repack our van in the dry. A big plus!

Can't fault this lovely place. Ideal spot in town which ticked all the boxes for us. Close to the beach and walkway. Wonderful people here especially those who upkeep the rooms. Best remedy to unwind is going for a walk along the beach after a long day at work. Such an amazing place.

Wow what a motel right on the beach front and walkway. We were on the 2nd floor and man the views are awsome. Kitchen bathroom and large lounge brilliant 5 stars. I would come back here again so relaxing. Changed to 1 star. On second time visit. We had booked 4 rooms some over 5 days. We had a little gathering with some family members we hadnt seen for a while and had a bluetooth speaker on. The guest down stairs complained to staff and the owner lost their temper about our music. The guest down stairs apparently left the next day and was suppose to have stayed 4 nights. The owners charged us there room and nights for the upset guest. Is this even legal? 250 dollers night. This is very disappointing ve spent over 4k with this hotel alone now we have to pay for for another guest room who is not even here and the room will probably get let out to other guest anyway. After a few emails back and forth they paid back the money they charged. In anycase it was and...

Dropped into Gisborne on a road trip around the North Island. Blew a tyre inbound so had to extend my stay here to two nights - very glad I did.||Room had been recently renovated. Bright and airy very nicely appointed. Bookmarked at both ends with floor to ceiling windows and ranchslider. One end looks out over balcony to unobstructed view to boardwalk & beach.||Clever design - bedroom on entry then access to lounge and balcony through bathroom on the left or kitchen on right.||Oven, hot plates, microwave and fridge - all new.||Short & pleasant walk into town and beach & boardwalk just outside||Judith at front desk was very accommodating - on hearing I was without a vehicle - even offered me her car to get dinner on first night after a long day!||This place is great -...
