We have recently moved to Gisborne and needed a venue for Mother’s Day dinner (as mother’s we didn’t want to cook for obvious reasons lol). So rang around and this place seemed to be the only one available for bookings. We get there, everything seemed ok. Venue was a little shabby but no worries. Go to order, and was told there wasn’t pasta available (chefs special), there wasn’t potatoes for mash potatoes. So we all started ordering, then all of a sudden they had the pasta available again? This was just the beginning of a horrible dinning experience! They literally advertise food and then bring out things without what is on the menu! We had so many stuff ups that night that I don’t even know where to begin! Our drinks took ages to arrive! They mentioned the bar staff was behind... yet I saw people who arrived a while after us receive their drinks? Ummm ok then! Then they didn’t have the correct mixes to make the drinks advertised so it was literally a pain! One thing after the other after the other! From missing sauces (tartare which is advertised with the fish menu, I think it was a spicy seafood sauce advertised with the side of chips which all bowls were missing! Even after being told twice they bring out tomato sauce zzz), to incorrect burgers, to no mash potato with a lamb shank and then forgetting to add the vegetables to the lamb shank alternative! We spent over $300 it was such a disappointment because we could of stayed home and produced better drink and food our damn selves! So much for a stress free, convenient Mother’s Day dinner! It was absolutely ridiculous! They are so unorganised especially for the amount of staff they had on! Everyone fluffed about and seemed like they had no damn common sense! The place wasn’t even a full house to have the amount of staff nor the amount of stuff ups! Never seen anything like it to be completely honest! The one star is for the semi decent food once received even though by that time none of us really...
Read moreMajor Let Down!! Experience was very disappointing!! Table of 7 which took well over an hour for the first dish to come out, not only that but only 3 were served at our table before having to wait another 30+ min on top for the rest of the table to be served!! All the meat in the burgers were burned, salad was a handful of dry bland salad brought from a supermarket!! Chips were undercooked, fish tasted disgusting like it was frozen before being cooked!! My dish which was seafood chowder was cold maybe due to the fact I waited over 90mins for it!! Waiters running around like headless chooks not knowing what’s going on with orders felt like there was no synchronisation amongst the staff!! SACK THE CHEF!! The chef is lazy and has no care for pride in his/hers work or food!! Breakers Gisborne needs a major identity check and revue because frankly me and my table of 7 are never coming here again and unfortunately it wasn’t the first time we’ve experienced this but was the most recent possibly thought things might change but obviously not!! Be Honest and take a hard look in the mirror and change because it is...
Read moreWe came here on New Year’s Eve for dinner as everywhere else was fully booked, wasn’t expecting much but when I tell you.. the food was amazing! We ordered 3 steaks, 1 rare, 1 medium and 1 medium rare and each steak came out perfect! I don’t usually finish my whole plate but I we devoured it all because it was that tasty (the salad, chips and garlic and parmy sauce was divine)! We also got the onion rings, nachos and mussels and omg… mussels were cooked to perfection. delicious! We were planning to go to lonestar but ended up coming here and honestly I will never go anywhere else for a steak because WOW 10/10 The staff here are awesome, also they have $14 jugs of beer which is so cheap! and we also had two oldies doing some karaoke which added to that classic kiwi experience. We were heading to R&V afterwards and the food/drinks/atmosphere made our night that much better! We had a great new years Whenever I return to Gisborne I will...
