Threatening managers and filthy facilities at Palmerston North Holiday Park. |Reviews by concened Holiday Park guests encouraged me to support their claims by registering my own concerns regarding the following incidents.||Steve the manager is not the owner. Palmerston North City Council are the owners of the Holiday Park. PNCC has leased the facility to three lessees. These three people have been made aware of my serious complaints by the PNCC. They included sparking light fixtures and switches, rusted and decrepit electical appliances most of which did not function at all. The main kitchen fridge leaked continually over the kitchen floor. Threatening notices were stuck to various facility walls.||Photos of the above mentioned appliances were given to the Activities Manager, Property Services PNCC||Steve the Park Manager was so rude that any requests for information, even to pay for wifi, were met with inappropriate responses and volatlity, along with a reluctance to assist in any way.||On occasions when guests went to the park office during open office hours the doors were locked and the bell for service was disconnected.||During my stay I witnessed some seemingly fine people being ordered to "leave the park now"||I find it astonishing that there are ANY favourable reviews and wonder at the identity of the authors||The PNCC were fully informed and given photographic evidence of the above claims.||These serious matters seem not to have been pursued with vigour or integrity for the management, circumstances and conditions still remain at the park. PNCC were fully aware of the Health and Safety issues as they had the aforementioned photographs for their reference.||This review is not intended to demean any PNCC personnel in any way, as I found the to be personable and receptive during my comunications with them.||For fear of consequences I remain anonymous...
Read moreWe found the owners to be the rudest I have ever encountered. We stayed in the cabins, totally do not recommend. Although the bathroom, kitchen and shower had been cleaned, it was very run down and old. Mould on curtains, paint peeling off, just general wear and tear. But that wasn't the issue. The beds looked like they should be in the dumpster and the covers were well stained and covered in dust and bugs. The carpet was visible filthy, covered in thick dust, especially around the skirting boards as no under the beds. I assumed that maybe they had forgotten to clean the cabins. So I politely asked the owner to come and inspect the cabins. She said there was nothing wrong with them. I asked her if she could vacuum them as I was travelling with students, a couple of whom had bad allergies. It was a health and safety issue and I was determined to keep my students well for their dance event the next day. I asked her to change the mattress covers. She agreed, but refused to vacuum. I asked if I could please borrow their vacuum cleaner as I would have to do it myself. We had already paid in full, which they demanded we do before we could stay and we had no where else to go. She finally, begrudgingly agreed to vacuum the rooms. Not without both the owners being very nasty and rude to myself and the young students who felt upset and uncomfortable. Two of the student's parents organised at the last minute for them to stay with them to avoid possible illness (they were also visiting to watch the dance event). We didn't end up using one of the cabins at all in the end and they refused to refund for this expense. I quote "people with allergies shouldnt stay in cabins". "This is what you get when you book cabins, you should have paid extra and booked a motel". It's such a shame as the surroundings are...
Read moreThis is literally "cheap" accomodation, we stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin. While bringing your own sheets is not unheard of (though very rare these days) having to bring your own blankets and duvets was a bit much. The cabin was in a very tired state, the carpets were absolutely threadbare, one of the sofas was just a rolled up mattress sort of thing, that you really could not sit on comfortably. The overall condition was in quite a sorry state, it was one of those places where it might have been cleaned, but it was hard to tell. The shower head had been repaired with something not meant for it and it was just flopping around, and the water pressure was almost non existent. I don't know if it had been turned down for economic reasons, but honestly, showers took three times as long as normal as there was so little water coming out. The fridge, while working was literally falling apart, and the kitchen had some things, but was missing a lot of basic stuff like a fry pan. The beds are only doubles and were comfortable, if a little hard. The positive side was that it was quite spacious, we were there for a week and the size worked well. Also the location is stunning, right beside the river and swimming pool centre, and just a shortish walk to town. They have a hard check in of 2.00pm, no exceptions even if they are not full. The problem with that is, everyone is there at that time to check in. This makes for a long and unnecessary wait.|This is all such a shame as the place could be awesome, it really would not take much to get these up to a great standard, I would have been happy to pay a little more for a more comfortable unit. Perhaps they are busy anyway and just don't care. I wouldn't say "don't" stay there, just beware...
