We live on the outskirts of Palmerston North and needed somewhere local to stay after I had minor surgery. It just wasn’t practical for my husband to drive me home and back while juggling our business commitments in town. Kauri Court Motel was the perfect choice.

It couldn’t have been more convenient. Our daughters go to Palmerston North Girls’ High and PNINS and were able to walk over after school (Girls’ High is right next door). Despite being so central, the location is peaceful and quiet.

The room was absolutely spotless, honestly, cleaner than some five-star resorts we’ve stayed at in Mexico and the US. Spacious and comfortable with thoughtful little touches, like milk in glass jars (both regular and oat milk available), and warm, friendly hospitality from the team.

I’ll definitely be recommending Kauri Court to friends and family. If you’re after a safe and welcoming place to stay, close to town but away from the noise, and near the Esplanade for the kids, you really can’t go wrong here. It’s a real gem in a great part of Palmerston North.

I stayed here for a couple of days back in March 2025 and I have to say, I had a very pleasant stay. The owners Neil and Amber are both incredibly kind & helpful and are always there to chat; whether it's about random things or advice on what to see or do in the area. I requested a room upstairs & away from the road and felt very thankful when I realised my wishes were granted (I know it can't always be done). The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, the walls aren't thin and the rooms/bathrooms are big. I can't remember if there is an AC unit, but the windows on either side work just fine too for air and a breeze through the rooms. As I was only staying for a couple of days, I didn't find daily room service necessary and let them know I didn't need room service. I was so thankful when I didn't get woken up daily by a surprised cleaning lady opening the door, like I did in other motels I had previously stayed in. I could relax and lie in which was wonderful. I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Kauri Court Motel! The room was incredibly spacious, spotlessly clean, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The super king bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the quiet location ensured I had a great night's sleep.

I was impressed by the well-equipped kitchenette, perfect for preparing meals, and the complimentary Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. The motel's location is ideal, close to dining options and local attractions, yet tucked away from the main road, providing a peaceful environment.

A special mention to Neil Aitkenhead, the owner, whose amazing hospitality truly made me feel at home. Neil went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect and that I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived. His kindness and attention to detail made the experience even more memorable.
