Fitzherbert Regency Motor Lodge — Hotel in Palmerston North

Lovely warm and friendly welcome by the young lady at the desk. She showed me our room and the facilities inside including eye masks and ear plugs. We were given a good sized bottle of milk for our cuppa and a few biscuits. The room was large and very smartly set out with a nice wee kitchenette with everything you need. The phone charger cords came in very handy and is a thoughtful addition. I loved the set up of the bathroom with all the amenities. It's great that you use the large refillable bottles of shampoo and soap. The spa bath was very roomy and just what we needed after a long drive. The only reason I didn't rate you 5 stars is the sleepless night we had on the hard king bed (Rm 19). This would be the only reason we wouldn't return for fear of getting a similar bed. What a disappointment this place was. We were given a key and told the number unit we had but were given no instruction as where to find it. When we did find it we were greeted by a filthy mat at the door. There was no milk in the fridge so had to go back to the office. We were in P Nth for medical reasons and required a bedside table each. There was only one so ended up using the ironing board instead. You needed long arms to use the toilet paper when you found it. We've never stayed anywhere this basic before. Definitely would suggest you go elsewhere. Really made our day after swiping our card on a parking meter in town and it came back as paid but on returning to car had a $70 parking ticket when we were not over time. A huge thumbs...

Great hotel. We got like a studio room. A double and single bed in it. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The studio had a small kitchette which allowed us to cook dinner. ||The fridge is small, as you would expect, but adequate. ||Bathroom was clean with plenty of towels, toilet paper, and soaps etc. ||We had a small problem with the door lock, which was sorted straight away. ||I would recommend staying here if you are in Palmerston North, close to town as well. ||I was a bit worried about the noise from the service station next door but didn't hear anything at night lol.
