I've been questioning whether or not I should leave this review as the lady I dealt with was very polite and apologetic, but since any future problems similar to this could put other guests in serious, potentially dangerous situations, I felt I needed to share my experience. I booked a room that was supposed to be wheelchair accessible... the staff member told me there was a 2-3cm lip to get into the room which would have been fine, but when we turned up, it was actually a good few inches, which my power wheelchair wouldn't be able to go over. There was no other way into the room, and although she and her partner offered to try and carry me in, my wheelchair alone is 170kg, and as a disabled person, being lifted or carried by people who aren't trained to do so in a manner that is safe for both myself and them, it is not an acceptable option. Also, I called them on the afternoon of the booking to advise them we were running late and wouldn't be there until around 7pm, and she said that was fine, and that she was glad I called because it had occurred to her the previous day that the shower may not be accessible. Since the booking was only for one night I shrugged it off because there wasn't much else I could do, but I question why she didn't contact me straight after that had occurred to her, and if I hadn't have called, was she just going to wait until I arrived? She was very apologetic about the not so accessible room, and called around other motels for us to try and find a vacancy that was actually accessible and that also allowed dogs, and whilst they did end up finding somewhere, by that point it was late at night and we had driven all the way from Wellington, so the extra couple of hours drive to the new motel through heavy rain and roadworks was not appreciated. We also had to change our plans for the next day as a result of the change in location. Again, she was very apologetic, and friendly, but this could have ended up being a serious problem if she was unable to find a replacement motel - we would have had to sleep in the car, and since my friend has severe asthma that is often triggered by rain and cold weather, sleeping in the car could have caused a bad attack leading to hospitalisation. Just a little advice, if you're giving out measurements for this kind of thing, don't estimate it, measure it, and if you have concerns after the booking has been made, contact the guest straight away, don't wait until it's too late to act on before you...
Read moreThe house had good facilities with a big lounge and great kitchen. We stayed in the snug, which was very small and we did know that but it wasnt easy to dry my hair in the tiny ensuite, which was the only room with a mirror. Also a hairdryer was listed, but there wasnt one. I did get one but it wasn't very good, think it was one a guest had left behind with an adapter. As it's listed as a boutique motel, we were surprised to be woken at 6am with kids running up and down the stairs right next to our room and yelling. We were expecting something relaxing and quiet. We ended up having to spend time in our tiny room because the place was over run with noisy kids, that were disrespectful to other guests. We went into the lounge where all the lights were off at 9pm as a family were playing music on their phones.! We thought we'd have a swim but had to get out with older kids at least 12 years of age were bombing into the water right next to us. Other guests were trying to relax, they also left as we're getting splashed. The pool was not clean and the spa pool was not working. Sky was advertised but there wasnt any in our room or lounge. We felt very disappointed as this was not a cheap place to stay. The room was nice and clean, staff friendly. It had good reviews which was why we booked but we didn't have a good experience. The boutique motel sounded appealing but kids bombing into water and yelling does not sound like a...
Read moreWe had the best weekend the staff were amazing the facilities were 5 star taking into account the wonderful age of the main lodge which has maintained much of its original charm with the convenience of modern day utilities. It's position couldn't be more perfect for walking into Warkworth or hopping in your car to explore the wonderful beaches nature reserves vineyards cafes and history the region has to offer. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to take advantage of swimming pool and patio but sitting in the very comfy chairs in the communal lounge with the fire crackling it provided a beautiful backdrop. Thanks again to the amazing staff they could not have been more caring and helpful anyone heading to Warkworth for the night should definitely book here we will be back|...
