Warkworth Hotel — Restaurant in Rodney

Our group decided to try the Warkworth Hotel for breakfast with one of our members wanting to evaluate it for a possible large corporate function later this year. Firstly, the building is totally wonderful and character filled. That’s where the praise ends for us. The wait for our coffee orders was very long, the wait for our breakfast orders bordered on ridiculous with one of our group going to the counter to ask very politely how much longer our meals would be as we needed to be elsewhere. When the meals eventually arrived, we asked where the toast was as we had all ordered “Big Breakfast’s” only to be told that toast wasn’t supplied, which blew us away. We have never ever ordered big breakfast meals that did not come with toast. We were told that they substitute a hash brown vegetable cake instead to which we replied that this type of meal everywhere else comes with both hash browns and toast. On top of that it definitely was not a big breakfast based on what all other restaurants serve, especially for the price charged here. The worst part however was the attitude of the staff who we engaged with. All were either rude, surly or condescending, totally lacking customer service skills and uninterested in customers, treating us like we were an inconvenience to their day. As expected, our member looking for a venue for their corporate function will be looking elsewhere, very disappointing especially after loving the venue itself. We are sure that there are other staff members employed by the Warkworth Hotel that are wonderful, but very sadly, we clearly picked a bad day and are now a non returning group...

I visted this place on the 22nd of Feb 2023 after work soI could get a beer or something to relax. When I cam to the entrance, there was no one at the front door, and no one at the front of house to welcome me so I assumed it was walk in at that time of day. None of the workers acknowledged me except for the bar tender who, after asking me what I wanted, told me it was a sit down resturant and that I had to be seated to be served. I sat down outside and waited for several minutes untill one waitress chucked a menu onto the table and grudgily asked to use it to see what I wanted. No one came to serve me for 5 minutes untill the bar tender came outside and asked what I would like to, after I asked for a beer he glared at me and began talking to the other patrons for another 5 minutes. I had had enough by then so I walked and got a ber at The Tahi instead. I can understand being underdressed for someplace like this, as I was still in my work clothes, but that is no reason to treat me the way the staff did. Horrible customer service and...

Recently reopened after a 2 yr total revamp, and it's pretty beautiful. Indoor/Outdoor dining in good weather. Decor inside is very tasteful ( see photos). Wait Staff are young ladies that don't disappoint and do their job well. Bar is central inside and appears very well appointed and flowed well. Parking nearby no problems at. Forgot to check the Restrooms, so cannot comment. Premise is divided into The Lobby Dining & The main dining room where booking is advised and works to set appointments. Food portions from what I was able to see were about average in size and beautifully presented. MENU : It's very comprehensive ( see photos). Children's menu also. WINE LIST : Very comprehensive ( photo). Cocktails/Champagne selection available. DEFINATELY a fine dining style asset to Ww, in a class of its own. Concerns about constant flow of Wait Staff near diners during peak periods, could be off-putting. Lunchtime atmosphere was really good. Pricing could be steep and the only reason I could not support this...
