Queen st cafe — Restaurant in Rodney

Have been here a couple of times now. Visited today and found the staff member we spoke to, to be unwelcoming and not particularly friendly. Walked in and was told to "go look at the menu" and then served by a young lady who couldn't crack a smile or manage to be pleasant. The food was nice but maybe giving patrons steak knives to use with their meals would be better then serrated butter knives. I had a BLT and chips and found that the bread and bacon were so hard to cut that I sent my serving of chips flying off my plate and onto the table. My daughter had the eggs bene, which she throughly enjoyed. And our family friend had the savoury mince on toast, which he was happy with. The toilet was pretty scungy and could do with a good deep clean. The skirting boards and Piping under the sink had a good layer of dust, showing it hadn't had a proper clean in a while. Main thing that put us off was the service and bluntness from the staff member we dealt with, which has left a lasting impression. My daughter and I are locals and most likely won't be back. We had lunch today at this café, the coffee was as good as the best coffee offered anywhere else in Warkworth.

The food choice that we chose, bacon and egg panini was okay, pity the bacon didn't extend over the whole panini. This was served with a light salad, which we both just left.

Considering the cost of the meal it was well worth it.

The knives and forks were clean, which is always a plus, and good to see.

The staff were courteous, and served us with a smile, however the inside of the café was dark and dreary, which doesn't do justice to the food offerings inside.

On balance well worth a visit, and we would return, if our favourite dining place is...

3 of us went here for lunch today. The food was fresh and delicious. The portions were excellent. It cost us $96 all up (around $32 each), but we chose some of the more expensive items from the menu. There are plenty of other options on offer here. We really enjoyed it, the staff were super friendly and the atmosphere very relaxing, considering we were right next to the main road in warkworth. We will certainly go there again. I would highly recommend it...
