Had a seafood pie here and thought it was excellent. Nice pastry, thin and didn’t dominate the flavour of the pie. The filling had mussel, prawn and suremi/crab in a tasty white sauce. I got this pie because you don’t always see seafood pies in bakeries. Was really good! $6.50 Friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating. They have a vast array of food, and judging by the pie I had, assume it’s all pretty yum! Definitely will come back.

I tried the mince and cheese pie and a doughnut which were both very nice. The staff were friendly, and there is ample space to sit and eat in the bakery, which is a nice touch. The one improvement that I would make jsnfor a better selection of beverages - specifically those lower in sugar.

July '23: This place is not fancy, but you can get a steak and mushroom pie (lots of filling) for $5.50 and a really beautifully made coffee for $5.00. Cream buns also good. Staff are nice. If they had a bit of music playing it would be cool, but very happy with my pie!

I rarely if ever give any café a five star rating, as it infers the cafe cannot be improved.

However based on the long black coffee I had last week, this cafe cannot be beaten, as their long black coffee is the very best in the Warkworth district.

Their coffees have been improving gradually over the past few weeks from good to very good and now excellent.

The staff here are always friendly, and they treat you with a genuine smile.

Regarding coffee, it certainly makes a huge difference which Barista makes your coffee. Leah to my mind, makes the best long black for sure, the extraction time, and the crema on top really alters the after taste which lingers long on the palate.

Their choice of the food here is vast and excellent, whether you want a great "real steak" meat pie, or any choice of their freshly made sandwiches, I don't think you will be dissappointed.

They will offer to make a fresh serving of hot chips, wedges or chicken, if the ones in the cabinet don't take your fancy.

Their vegetarian salad sandwiches on grain bread made to your order is first class.

The selection of sweets is also pretty extensive, especially if they have their apple strudel.

I have commented on their coffees before, but today's long black was just exceptional, better than that of the current Omaha Beach Eatery, and Omaha Beach Eatery were rated by me as the best cafe and producers of coffee in the extended Warkworth district.

On an adverse note. They offer you a free scone or muffin with your coffee, these are pretty average standard, but as they are free, you can't really complain.

We are back to the Backhouse for our coffee, their regular supplier has once again been able to resupply them after a problem of supply.

Regular transmission has resumed, great news.

Visited again for my fix of their coffee, sadly, their coffee is not great at this time as they have changed their supplier.

I understand their previous supplier has run out of stock, and they are now using a supermarket product.

They had better get their mojo back real quick, as they have now lost their rating as having the best coffee in Warkworth.

Still have the best pies, sold with a smile, and a great selection of sandwiches.

This café provides great food, coupled with the best long black coffee in Warkworth.

They will also make you fresh sandwiches or fresh bacon and egg toasties for you.

Mia is delightful, serves you with a smile, and nothing seems to be a problem.

A great touch from Covid days is they wipe the tables down after each patron leaves.

This is our go to place for coffees...

Good old style kiwi bakery with friendly and competent owners :) a decent amount of seating and a clean interior. This place is super popular!

Shout out to the freshest, softest lamingtons I've had in a bakery in NZ! So tasty I basically inhaled it.

Pies were tasty and as a group we tried a few - potato top was nicely spiced with herby mashed potato and peppery mince.

Pepper steak and mince and cheese were both deemed great.

Sausage roll was delicious, juicy sausage with onion.

My steak and cheese was mostly gravy but nice flavour (pretty normal by kiwi bakery standards)

The cheese pies are very generous with cheese (it was dripping out).

Additionally we tried some other sweet things aside from lamingtons - afghans are giant but not special as they didn't really have the right kind of icing and the cookie wasn't that dense and chocolatey as hoped.

Mini apricot pie was reasonable - very thick pastry and probably will taste better heated up.

I really like...

Where to start? We'll for one my partner and I have been a regular visitor to the bake house for over 14 years and not once have we been disappointed. Maybe its the smell of freshly cooked pies in the morning or the delightful staff that keep bringing us back but one thing is for certain, when I die and go to heaven for all the good things I've done in my life im sure there will be a Warkworth bake house in heaven waiting for me to fill my mouth with joy because never before has food tasted so heavenly. I urge anyone that has a soul to visit and grab a pie, trust me all your life problems will melt away while the glorious tast of your chosen pie takes over your senses. Even for just the length of time it takes to eat a pie, everything...
