Greymouth Motel — Hotel in South Island

It was the “no worries” attitude of the owner who made this trip so good. We booked last minute to visit a sick family member and had to bring a small dog as there was no time to book him in a kennel. The owner was so easy to deal with and nothing was an issue (had to call him twice from Christchurch with questions). ||The room was older style but it was so clean! I will admit that I was nervous booking so quickly and arriving late in the evening (could have been a disaster) but I was pleasantly surprised to find the beds all impeccably made, the bathroom was clean, as was the kitchen. Little bit of road noise as mentioned in other reviews but this place is on the main road also it’s Greymouth and traffic wasn’t constant all night… it’s also just up the road from the hospital and in easy reach of everything you need. My wife and I and our two daughters spent 1 night at Greymouth Motel.||The accommodation was spacious and clean and consisted of 2 bedrooms with a queen bed in one room and 2 single beds in the other room. There was also a separate open plan lounge and kitchen area. The beds were comfortable and the facilities including parking next to the apartment were adequate and convenient.||The location of the motel is good as it is close to the beach and other scenic attractions. Cons||Our room was covered in dog hair including the chairs, seats, carpet. The room smelled like a wet dog.||Wifi was very slow - dial-up speed||The room was very old and it was like stepping back to the 1950s.||Road noise was constant at night in the early hours of the morning.||The train that runs next to the motel shook the room at 5 am.||I should have done my research better and not booked this place.||||Pros ||Good...
