Grove Park Motor Lodge — Hotel in South Island

I am beyond disturbed by the way the owner just spoke to me. I rang up to ascertain whether the very expensive pillow (which assists with an underlying medical condition) I left behind had been found and refused to go and check. He told me it was not his problem and that it was up to us to come back and check (24 hours after we left I might add) if the pillow was there. When I tried to explain why I would appreciate if he would check, he hung up on me, and when I rang back, he hollered an unbelievable amount of abuse down the phone at me, called me all sorts of obscenities for “wasting his time”, and was overall rude, arrogant, inappropriate and completely misogynistic. All over a simple and entirely reasonable request. The aggressive approach he took was entirely confronting, had me visibly shaking, and is the last thing you’d expect from someone in the hospitality industry. I would never stay there again, urge others to stay clear of it and feel absolutely gutted that we’ve paid this rude and aggressive man $250 towards...

Grove Park Motor Lodge is a brilliant place to stay and view the top of the North Island. We called this home base for two weeks. The best part?
