I've been to Lake Tekapo and luckily I didn't have to stay in this disgusting place. Based on the fact reported about how they treated their guests, I highly suggest you mark this place as one you will never go. Bottom line as a hotel, guest deserves the help to be accommodated. Although guest might have wrongly taken it for granted that they could fit 3 of them into a 2 people studio, they don't deserve to be treated the way reported in the news. I am a Chinese too that lives in Australia long enough to have been to a lot of places around here and New Zealand as well, and NEVER have I ever experienced or been able to imagined that any accommodation service providers could have done something as disgraceful as this.
First of all, as common sense, in a lot of hotels or motels, we can always pay extra to accommodate additional guest, so if policy in this particular place is THAT STRICT, have you put any noticeable WARNING on the hotel website AS WELL AS all of the other 3rd party booking agents' websites AT ALL, stating that it is BY LAW that amount of guests is restricted? I checked your website and I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!
Secondly, when you explained everything to the guest, and understood that your guest came in as a family which, again, is common sense that they surely would not want to be separated, have you ever, tried to offer them any help to come up with better solution, rather than driving your guest out of your property with so many rude and mean words?
Of course it could have been much better if the guest herself had tried to talk to hotel just to confirm before going ahead with booking (she probably wouldn't have gone ahead with the booking as she might have already been able to sense the rudeness over the phone), but as a person who specializes in customer service myself, from no ground at all it would make the manner that this hotel had treated the guest with as reasonable or acceptable!!!
To be one of those lucky accommodation service providers in a beautiful and CIVILIZED place like Lake Tekapo, this hotel should be ashamed of what they...
Read moreI watched you explaining about this thing how to happen. But I still think it's not make sense. You are a human u should know how to respect people. And DO NOT YELLING!! And especially their are you customers, I watched you video, I feel OH MY GOD ! Why you did that, attitude like this, you behaved like who is not have any education and family have never teached u how to respect people, you should be guilty to get rid of a young girl with a good yearning for New Zealand and her parents who even can't speak English, however they already paid and they couldnt find any accommodations, because all of accommodations were already full. I feel ashamed on you. I've been NZ 3years and I love this place but never see a host like u. A lot of Kiwi they are lovely! But you! TERRIBLE! They are your customers, you should try to help them do not get rid of them especially this was a day not night, she can hang on with her family to look after them. You said she is stupid and loosed her face on her culture. She is not, you are! Loose NZs face! I think you should give her an apology. If you won't you've never...
Read moreWe had a great stay here despite the weather not being great for stargazing, we did manage to see a few in the early hours of the morning. The studio was well appointed with Sheridan towels that were super soft, and the best bed linen we've had in the last 2 weeks! The couch was comfy to watch TV whilst we waited for the sun to set and was well equipped with Netflix and YouTube and free wifi. We could hear our neighbours watching tv but everyone stuck to the house rules and was quiet from 10pm. Some TVs aren't named correctly so need to be extra careful if casting over the Wi-fi. The view of the lake was stunning and we loved the window over the bed although did need to close it when the sun started coming up and we were not ready to wake up. Parking was easy enough around the back and it's a short drive in to town. Highly recommend if you're looking for somewhere in the area and we'd definitely come back on our...
