This might be the first time I’ve stayed in a purpose-built BnB. Our hosts, Ann-Maree and Sab, bought a lot on a hillside with a view of Lake Tekapo, and then built a home with a wing that contains three guest rooms. My room was simple but comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities, a balcony, a well-appointed bathroom, and a comfortable bed. Guests have access to a living/dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable couches, and a picnic-style breakfast table. This design gives both guests and hosts privacy. Yet when relaxing in the living room, Anne-Maree and Sab are always happy to chat with guests and provide information about the area.||Breakfast is plentiful. Guests order hot items the night before. When morning comes we were treated first with juice and a hot beverage followed by toast, eggs, bacon, or whatever we ordered. Cold items, like cereal, are also available. ||Restaurants are a short walk to town, about 15 minutes, using a trail that starts at the BnB. Alternatively, you can drive, but I...
Read moreBe aware! I made a reservation with Ranginui B&B though Expedia with term of 50% down payment at booking and reminding balance will be charged 7 days period to arrival and cancellation fee of $20NZD. However after the 1st charge of 50% deposit, Ranginui B&B charged my credit card again after one month of booking for another full amount (total charged 150% of the stay several months before the arrival). When I contacted them though Expedia, Ranginui B&B manager said I need to deal with Expedia, and after several e-mail back and force between Expedia and Ranginui B&B for several days, I still don't have my money refunded. Worried about the service when I get there after this experience, I decided to cancel the reservation, and now Ranginui B&B insisted it is $35 cancellation fee! So, be aware, not only they have cancellation fee, they also may charge you extra when you are not aware, luckily I saw on my credit...
Read moreThis B&B was fabulous. We stayed for two nights to explore the Lake Tekapo area. Our room was large, beautifully appointed and super clean. We had a private balcony, tea and coffee (fresh coffee!) making facilities and a large bathroom too.||Our host, Ann-Maree, welcomed us upon arrival, and was so friendly and helpful. She had made a dinner reservation that evening for us at a local restaurant but also offered to cancel if it didn’t suit. It did - and we really enjoyed our evening. She also suggested a trail to walk in the Mount Cook National park the next day, which we did and it was just stunning. Her local knowledge and advice meant we had the best of stays.||The breakfast in the morning was excellent too. Home made muesli, bread. Fresh fruit. Cooked eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, the full works. And of course….more (fresh) coffee!||I can’t recommend this gem highly enough. ||Thank...
