Melody Accommodation — Hotel in South Island

This is beautiful boutique accomodation (midway between a small hotel and a motel) in Gore. We stayed for one night in December. The rooms are luxurious, with comfortable furniture, fixtures and fittings. The bed is incredibly comfortable. The accomodation is about a 10 to 15 minute walk into town, even closer to a large supermarket, everything a few minutes drive away if not walking. Breakfast isn't provided, but I got up early and walked to the supermarket to get breakfast which was very good, and there are a few cafe options nearby if preferred. Melody is very handy to the superb Eastern Soutlhland Gallery, with its fascinating Ralph Hotere works and John Money Collection (that's why we visited and stayed). The rooms did not appear to have an independent source of heating, and although it was early summer I found the 18 degree Celsius temperature (about 67 Fahrenheit) a bit too cold or cool for my levels of comfort (I like keep interior temperatures to about 22 degrees). Also some of the rooms didn't have much in the way of a view, just a corrugated iron fence next to frosted windows. My room looked out over the street which was fine. The whole accomodation was heavily scented and while I didn't mind this fragrance some people might find it a bit much. Apart from these areas, Melody is a beautiful place to...

Having been on a round trip around NZ for almost 2weeks now, this is by far, one of the most homecoming, cleanest and cosiest hotel we have ever checked in. The services rendered by Daniel was indeed one that checks all the list of WHY YOU SHOULD only stay in Melody!

Although we had only checked in for a night, Daniel came to us as a VERY WARM host. He went out of his way to help us load and unload the luggages during our check ins & outs.

He is a very fine gentleman and his services are indeed impeccable! I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a DECENT, AFFORDABLE and COMFORTABLE stay in here! Everything just LOOKS so NEW in here as if we are the first guest!

Not to mention, they even took the effort to place a stalk of fresh rose in a vase;)

The hotel is located within walking distances to most amenities and restaurants!

The rooms are top notch, everything’s perfect & very modern, the Host Daniel was very nice & extremely helpful & accommodating, would definitely recommend. The only one thing that could’ve been better for me would’ve been some better off street parking that felt more secure, other than that, this place is well worth every penny.
