Amigos Gore — Restaurant in South Island

We were lucky enough to win a free night out at Amigos in Gore, we were told that it was a training night so to expect delays however I think the wait time was absolutely on point! I’ve waited longer at restaurants that have not been busy and have been running for years so I think the wait time was absolutely no issue at all. The decor was great, we loved it so much, the atmosphere was amazing, the staff were great and actually made the effort to have a conversation and explain everything well, even when it was clear they were learning themselves, the food was to die for!! The food was great. The service was 5 stars, and I was impressed with our servers up-selling - as we would not have ordered starters or cocktails otherwise. The Atmosphere was a little bit uncomfortable as it was only our server that was doing all the work. She never stopped really, only to talk to her customers. We did not catch her name but she had glasses and bob length dark brown hair. The other staff, other than the kitchen staff were just standing around chatting the whole time. This made us feel uncomfortable , as why should only one person be doing all the work? Also the over-all attitude of the other staff was concerning as they never smiled, moped around the restaurant and looked as though they did not even want to be there. ...

We were lucky to be invited to the soft opening party and loved our first experience of Amigos in Gore! The service was faultless, with waitresses being attentive and friendly. The food was simply outstanding. Delivered quickly and absolutely delicious, we loved the flavours and found everything to be so tasty. We love the vibe of this restaurant, cleverly created by the decor, furniture and staff. The indoor/outdoor area will be a firm favourite with people. I came back with a friend a few days later, just to bask in the afternoon sun and enjoy a taco. Bliss!
