What can I say about this hotel? Hmmm.... I loved it š Scene and setting is of course of importance. It's not that have any important issues concerning the others, but loafing Scandinavia for a month: One stands out for sure.
If you need chill accomodation for a week in capital region Norway.... DO consider this as very good option. Especially if you're planning on leaving the country by plane. A five minute stroll in a shielded walkway and your in the terminal of Gardermoen. Just the sam, unshielded and you find yourself at the train station. (mind you! There is no ticket machines at this end. Buy online or enter terminal route.)
RR is located smack middle of the concrete desert of the airports parking facilities.... Sounds abysmal? Well, it's not... With lots of greenery that ables you to breath for free, it certainly offered a chillout space after a day in extremely overcrowded spaces.
The rooms, the rooms, the rooms are on.... As far as I understand there is really only two options (how unpretentious, but also hints towards this being exactly what it is: accomodation for business and flight crews primarily) A standard room gives you a very nice standard room. 22kvm spacious with all the standards, but EXCEPTIONAL bed. Two people can easily live there šššš And we sorta did... š¤š
At times I could have wished for a little more service, but I am pretty sure frequent users of the Radisson hotels will not experience this.... As days went by the staff certainly warmed up to the scruffy loafers š» BUT it will cost you something! On a budget? Do not even think about it! First nights were round 300$/⬠becoming cheaper as we went.
The hotel itself is a typical looking concrete slab between concrete slabs all around. Inside however, it has a very pleasant design inspired theme, very pleasant to the eye. Design and art books are to behold everywhere. Just chill, without being intrusive.
The staff is like it's designprofile: Non intrusive. In the lobby: Proffessional and efficient as can be. Absolutely nothing noteworthy. In the dining area there may be some small attention difficulties, but the breakfast has great and more than proficient variety, and is GREAT at 0500 in the morning. I had both salmon and swine cheeks for dinner and they were both GREAT. (MY: Potatoes or whatever are SIDEdishes on the menu) Extra points for being actually able to serve my glass of wine WITH the meal šš
It may be an odd choice for most, but if you just wanna chill and relax in a chill environment I will absolutely recommend checking out this place. But BE A MEMBER OF THE REWARD CLUB! Price dropped notably...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe booking document does not mention the fact that it is the "Red" Radisson in the airport, and not the Blu. They are located in opposite part of the airport, so we made more than one km from the Blu to the Red once we understood that thare are 2 "Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre" in Oslo Airport.
Only one employee at the reception desk in August on Saturday at 19h 00, with loud and poor background music in the lobby, a table with some pots of fresh water with only dirty glasses and covered by water dropping on the ground. 15 minutes wait to have the cards for our two rooms.
This young lady alone at the desl was extremely unpleasant, and, among others, she denied an upgrade despite my gold reward membership statutes, answering "you already have the breakfast" (which was part of my booking I paid for). No water given also in additional violation of the rules of Radisson Reward system.
Another element that is unacceptable for any custormer is the fact that there is no minibar or fridge in rooms, whatever is the category of rooms. The corresponding cupboard in all the rooms is just empty. This is also not in line with the category of this hotel (and its price).
A number of dead flies are trapped between the two locked windows of the room, showing the lack of maintenance of the rooms.
It would be good also to stop using music in the corridors of the hotel, which is a place to rest.
I had to complain to a lady responsible in the hotel, who kindly tried to compensate these violations of Radisson obligation. An upgrade was offered, but declined has the room offered was a kind of dormitory with 4 single beds instead of my booking for a king size bed. We were also given some rebate on food and a late check out.
I have also to mention that, despite these problems, the breakfast is very good.
But this does not solve the anomalies of insufficient information on the hotel, of some rude and not properly trained staff violating the basic rules of the Radisson group hotels, and of staff not in sufficient number.
The management which is offering all rooms of a Radisson without minibar/fridge, and does not deal properly with the staff is the one to blame for this global lack of respect of customers.
Do not book this "Red" Radisson in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you're looking for a hotel for an overnight stay in Oslo - before taking the flight to another place in this beautiful part of the world - and you're looking for one that's around the airport, Radisson RED does the job.
Location is super convenient. It's a convenient short (and flat) walk from the terminal - 6 to 9 minutes - depending on your speed and your bags. It's super easy (exit the airport, and just follow the signs to Radisson Red and to the walkway), it's a safe walk away and in great weather, it's a breeze. As shared, it's through a covered walkway.
Hotel itself is a clean, modern, and spacious hotel. Lots of places to lounge around. The receptionist at the front desk was a young lady who was professional, helpful, courteous and quick in getting things done.
Room is neat - spacious, clean, anointed, easy on the eyes. I booked the superior room and it was in the corner - comfortable, roomy and decent aesthetic. Bathroom is smaller, relative to the room, but it was functional and clean. Air-conditioning works well. Good coffee machine in the room. WiFi was adequate (not as super fast as was expected).
Price - was fine compared to what's around.
Breakfast - I left early so couldn't have it, but I believe it's solid!
It is, however, no frills unlike other more advanced airport hotels - no luggage help or concierge (even for someone who had a crutch because of a fracture and had two bags :) ). It lacks room service - which isn't ideal (and the phone didn't work) - and hence, the drop in stars to 4. You have to go and dine at the restaurant which is inconvenient when you're jet lagged and just want a quick bite before bed / between work. If you don't fancy the hotel's and wish to order from outside, delivery isn't smooth owing to the location and delivery apps in Oslo aren't like some more advanced cities globally.
Overall, would I stay again? Yes, if I was transferring some place else via Oslo and needed a place for the night. It...
