Pencas Beach Resort — Hotel in Bocas del Toro

In March 2018 I booked through booking.com at $20/night, but could not pay online. After arriving at Bocas Beach Resort we were told that the price we booked would be doubled if we wanted to stay, so my girlfriend and I left. ||Passing someone else that was going to stay here on the way out, I let that woman know what had just happened to us. ||||The owner walked up to me on the street and slapped me in the face and said he would do it again if I didn’t leave. He also verbally threatened to hit my girlfriend too. ||||I went straight to the police. The police got involved, knew the place I described to them very well, and told me that the owner / guy (James) running the “Resort” was known to them and into drugs and alcohol. ||||After driving with the police back to Pancas Beach Resort (it’s not a beach resort) James was verbally abusive and irate to myself and the police shortly after the first incident. He was so verbally abusive and aggressive that at one point an officer drew his gun pointing it at Jame’s head. ||||See photos for proof of the police at the property. ||||I am rewriting my review because anyone thinking of staying at this place needs to be informed. So... ||first the place was being ran by the owners son I think when I was there. He unfortunately has a big heart but also a big drug problem and he is obviously very popular on the island seeing as his friends are always at the hostel (also lots of cocaine and drinking which I'm not all against but trust me even you guys who indulge in the Central American delicacy would probably feel uncomfortable with locals sitting around talking to themselves out of their minds at 9/10am.||||It's location is beautiful and genuinely the guy running it seemed to care but also not care so much at the same time.||||Caught doing his own business in the dorms and sleeping in my dorm alone with me in his boxers (I felt uncomfortable).||||Also many other travelers told me their stuff had gone missing, no lockers and constant people passing through is not safe at all.||||Overall it's a beautiful place but so badly run unfortunately! ||||Ladies I'm genuinely a cocky little sh* usually that is not one to leave a bad review or be made to feel scared but just not worth the feeling uncomfortable, go to mamallena or something next door - not selina though they ruin the...

I booked through bookings.com and when I arrived the owner wasnt on site so I had to sit around for about an hour waiting. The rooms said they were private on the site but they are shared. (I had my 5 year old son so this wasnt an option for me ) the rooms have no where to lock your things and I literally just walked into a room where people had left there things.Once the owner arrived she told me they were full. I told her my reservation was confirmed and she just brushed me off and said "it's full you cant stay here" bad business. One of the other guests said that she must have given my room to them because they had no reservation and showed up 2 hours before me. I had to walk around bocas with my 5 year old son looking for somewhere to stay.
