Bocas Inn welcomes you like family. The hostess Hercelia attends to your every need and personally assures that your stay goes well. Orlando, the smiling and talented chef, was open to bartending suggestions and was a delight to know. His breakfasts and specialty snapper dinner were meticulously presented and enjoyed. The hotel itself needs updating. The hammock was relatively new and offer an idyllic view, but the chair cushions were stained and torn. The single air conditioner was inadequate without a ceiling fan and the bathroom had no a/c access or outlet. New mattresses, curtains, and paint (especially the ceilings) are needed, as well as some sprucing up of the front landscaping. The hotel is very clean. Our day trip boat pick ups were from their private dock. This was truly valued when we returned in an absolute downpour. Hercelia made certain we were offered the correct snorkel gear and towels. Read moreI lived in Bocas del Toro for 4 months and can honestly say that the Bocas Inn offers something unique. It is the perfect medium between a hostel and an overpriced "fancy" hotel. The Bocas Inn is a reasonable price, the breakfast is simple but lovely (fresh fruit, eggs, toast, pancakes, tea/coffee), and the property is in a perfect location both walking distance to town and far enough away from the bars that it is not polluted with noise. The Inn is also right on the water, so you can enjoy your breakfast while looking out on boats passing by. The Bocas Inn grounds manager does a lot to maintain a beautiful garden, making the Inn stand apart from the concrete-jungle of other hotels on the island. The rooms are not spectacular, but they are clean, well-lit, and equipped with an AC unit. Book the Zapatillas room for a nice view...
