We stayed in a private double en suite at Hotel Prado for 3 nights, after our first choice hostel was full. I wish we had kept looking for another hostel.||||On first appearances, our room was a decent size, with a large desk and an adequate bed, but that's where the positives ended.||||We were repeatedly assured that the hotel had hot water, but it never materialised in 3 days. It was closer to cold that luke warm. Despite repeated complaints and protests, the staff claimed that the water was indeed hot, and that we were somehow mistaken.||||The sink in the bathroom had a leak, so that every time we ran the taps, even for a few seconds, water would pool on the floor beneath it. We raised this problem with reception, who said they would fix the problem. It was not fixed at all for the duration of our stay.||||The last broken promise was the wifi. It worked just about OK in our room for the first day, but dropped out repeatedly. For the rest of our stay, it was non functioning in all areas of the hotel apart from reception. We were met with a solid 30 minute argument, where they were rude and refused to budge. In the end, they finally agreed to discount the price, but not to the amount that we were happy with.||||We would not stay here again, and would advise others not...
Read moreI booked this hotel for 2 nights on booking.com, mainly for its location near the Plaza de Armas, rather than any good reviews I had read about it. Therefore my expectations were low ... and they weren't disappointed! ||||Firstly, on arrival, it was clear that the Rack Rate advertised for the room was some 50% less than it was advertised on booking.com, which was immediately irksome. ||||The price did not include breakfast. ||||The twin room we had was small, but just about sufficient for us and our luggage. We never managed to get any hot water, and the WiFi didn't work ... despite the router being right outside our room, and all the cables running through our bathroom window! ||||Probably the biggest criticism is the noise. The windows in the corridor, which overlooked a main street were left open all night, so the street noise was audible. This included a nightwatchman who insisted on blowing his whistle every minute or so throughout the night! ||||Opening and closing bedroom doors could also be heard throughout the hotel, as could the front door bell, which clients had to ring to be let in after 11pm or so. ||||The reception staff were quite friendly and helpful, but had the thankless task of being the visible face of this dingy,...
