Humberto is a great host and it feels more like a homestay than a Guesthouse. You get to know the family but you have your privacy as well. The rooms are spacious and warm and the shower is hot. Also, there is enough hot water for everyone, he recently upgraded his watertank. The optional meals (breakfast and dinner) are excellent and satisfy even big stomachs. Humberto can help with tours and info for hiking in the area and is a guide himself. He also helps you organising your tour yourself and doesn't push you into an organized tour if you don't like (e.g. Santa Cruz). The Guesthouse is a bit out of the center in the south of town, with not much around, but a small supermarket is not far away and a Taxi into the city center is around 4 Soles, the Collectivos drive every 10min or so and cost 0,70 Soles per Person. The Guesthouse is unremarkable from the outside and there is no sign, but it's right after a little bridge to the left. If you don't mind being off the center, want a warm, a helpful host and great food, this...
Read moreI had an amazing time at Humberto’s Guesthouse! I was visiting Huaraz for a few days and I wanted to get the inside-scoop on the best things to do in the area—Humberto certainly did not disappoint!
He knew EVERYTHING about the area: the best restaurants, the trails, views, and attractions.
I felt very welcomed while staying here, like I was family. The breakfasts were tasty and simple; there was always fresh fruit juice in the morning.
Humberto recommended the perfect itinerary for my short stay: a trip to Chavin, then to Pastouri Glacier the next, and finishing off with an epic ascent to the top of Mount Mateo.
Humberto has innate knowledge of all the mountains in the area, so he will recommend the best hikes. He also does guiding, so I recommend you go with him on a multi-day...
Read moreWe stayed for 6 weeks at Humberto's guest house, and really felt like home. The rooms are cosy, clean, with private bathroom and hot shower all the time. It's location is perfect: 15 minutes walking from the Plaza de los Armas (or 5 min with colectivo), in a quiet and sympathic neibourhood. The whole family is super welcoming, helping, devoted. Humberto and Gladys will do whatever they can to make you fell like home. Humberto is also a mountain guide, he has years of experience, knows perfectly what he is talking about. He will always be happy to help you organizing your trip in Huaraz, giving you tips etc. We did one expedition with him, it was absolutely incredible, great organization, awesome food, very safe, and with a lot of professionalism. We will definitely come back at...
