EXCELLENT!!!!! My experience with the Bed and Breakfast "Posada Allpahuayo" and it's owners Victor and Yoli was one of the best aspects of my voyage to Iquitos. As a volunteer for a medical campaign, I was a first time traveler to South America. When I arrived Yoli was my saving grace. I was clueless as to how to arrange transportation, purchase items for the campaign, exchange money, and get my luggage that the airport lost returned. Yoli resolved all of these issues quickly and efficiently. Their daughter Marcela was also quite considerate, and the housekeeper Madith was quite thorough. When Victor learned that I was going to be doing medical work in the jungle, he gave me very astute advice as to how to avoid the natural dangers, which I followed precisely. There was a small safe in the closet, but within a few days I knew that it was unnecessary. I trust them implicitly. The breakfast was simple, delicious and filling, and there were bottled drinks available at half the cost of hotel drinks. I worked in Iquitos and neighboring communities for three weeks. During that time the volunteer organization I was with placed me in three other hotels. One high end, one middle ground, and one low end. Regarding cleanliness, trustworthiness, and hospitality, they all paled in comparison. I know that when I return, I will be staying...
Read moreYoli, the owner (together with her husband Victor) was just amazing! We were going to stay at a different hotel after a jungle lodge but we decided to cancel that to come back to Posada Allpahuayo. The rooms were clean and with good air-conditioning, the breakfast Yoli cooked for us in the morning and it had eggs, bread and fresh juice. When you enter the hostel you get to the reception and then there is 5 rooms and one kitchen that also the family uses. After the rooms Yoli and Victor lived, so it really felt like you got to be a part of the family. You get a free transport from the airport when you arrive and Yoli helped us with everything and even if we didn't speak any good Spanish she was really easy to talk to and she tried everything to understand and help us. The hostel is 5 min in a Motortaxi from Plaza de Armas and that cost 3 soles, and we really liked that! Plaza de Armas was a bit noisy and we really liked the quiet and perfect location with Motortaxis just outside the hotel. Everything was perfect and couldn't have asked for anything else! Everything thanks to Yoli and her...
Read moreThis accommodation is wonderful - well-presented, comfortable and spotlessly clean - and the owners, Yoly and Victor, are lovely friendly people who really go out of their way for their guests. The rooms and bathrooms are immaculate with aircon, great showers and plenty of hot water. The guesthouse is about a 25 minute walk from the centre, or a 3 soles ride by mototaxi (tuk tuk) and the location is nice and quiet making it a bit of an oasis in what, believe me, is a manic (but great) city. Breakfast generally comprised fresh juice, eggs and toast served by Yoli at her kitchen table where you can chat with other guests. Complimentary tea and coffee are available throughout your stay and there is a free airport pick up by Victor (return journey is charged at 15 soles). We stayed for 3 nights in total, split either side of a 2 day tour on the Amazon, and everything was great. They stored our bags while we were away and we went back into the same room on our return. It felt just like...
