I chose this hostel because I needed to chill and for that it was perfect. They refill water bottles for a charge which I love because it reduces plastic waste. The only really uncomfortable night was the Friday night when there was a party. I don't understand why they have to pump up the music on the whole area for like 10 guests until the middle of the night. There is no sound protection at all. Three other 3 nights were fine though. Breakfast was terrible. "Bread" and overly salted eggs. I think that should be improved. The staff were all super friendly and fun. Free salsa classes. The Yoga teacher was unfortunately unable to react to different skill levels of her paying students and reacted quite unprofessionally to criticism addressing this issue. |I didn't like their exchange rate from dollars to soles which resulted in me paying more than I had to. ||In summary: great place to recharge, super nice staff, fun atmosphere. I felt comfortable. Yoga better for Yogis than beginners. Private room was comfortable and clean. Laundry service for 4...
Read moreI'm usually critical with my reviews but I absolutely loved this hostel, one of my favorites in the world. A sanctuary in the middle of an otherwise pretty run down town. Excellent layout, super chill vibe with amazing music, the food at the restaurant was excellent (sushi!!!), clean pool, tons of hammocks, projector screen, even an outdoor gym! WiFi actually worked well! They have a party on Fridays, otherwise it's just the best relaxed beach vibe hanging out. I wish I had the time to chill here for a week. My photo doesn't do it justice because it's a big complex but it's really well done.
I had zero issues with bugs in late March, didn't see or hear a single cricket, so the complaints from other reviewers must be seasonal. (There were a few toads, a huge tortoise, and friendly cat though!) I recommend if you want to party just hop across the street to The Point or take a tuk tuk to Loki for 3-5 soles (day-night), and then come back here for a super...
Read moreI found this place a little bit of a culture shock when I arrived (at 6am for context)
Due to the rainy weather, their were tons of flies and loads of crickets outside and inside the room (this is common of the WHOLE town so you can't single out Psygon).
But once we met the owner and saw the effort he put into this place (even letting us check in early and spending 30 minutes cleaning out our room himself, I was sold)
He does WHATEVER he can to make sure that your room is as clean (daily) and free of bugs as possible so you actually end up having a very pleasant stay.
The actual hostel itself has SOOO much to offer (ping pong table, pool table, bar, restaurant, swimming pool, classes, surf equipment) really, it's one of the best value hostels I've stayed in.
Very happy with my stay here and highly recommend it (but be prepared to squish a few bugs depending on...
