Despite the reasonable reviews in travel books we were very disappointed in the room. The Hostal is on the main square so the traffic noise is unbearable. Even the rooms at the back are next to a market and CD stall which kept us awake most of the night. The room itself was a reasonable size but there was no floor space to speak of as they managed to squeeze in a double and single bed. This made opening the bathroom door difficult and the place just felt cluttered all the time. The towels were grubby and the en suite shower room was tiny. Breakfast was served downstairs in a cafe which was always empty. (We later on discovered that there was an extra charge for breakfast.) The service was unenthusiastic and on our second morning they refused to serve breakfast until after 10am. We complained to the hostal and asked for our breakfast money back. The rate was about what other similar places were charging and the location (right on Plaza des Armas) was fantastic. My room was quiet as it was away from the square.||||The hotel has seen better days and it wasn't extremely clean, but fine for the 40 soles I paid her night. The bed was fine and the TV worked well. I ended up switching rooms because the bathroom was infested with ants (all over the toilet). My 2nd room did not have the same problem.||||The one upside of the hotel is the manager who was extremely friendly, spoke some english, and helped me in several situations. The young guy working the nightshift is less than helpful.||||My YES recommendation is with the following caveat: if you aren't very picky, then this hotel is ok...
