It’s a cozy hotel with a beautiful garden, allocated by my tour operator (Exotica) for the Machu Picchu visit. I stayed in mid-October, and the room wasn’t as cold as I expected after reading other reviews.
There are quite a few stray dogs around the area, and they tend to bark a lot in the evenings. Noise can also be an issue if you have neighbors — I stayed in room 206, which is in one of several buildings, and could hear quite a bit from next door.
The hot water was inconsistent: it worked fine on the first day but turned cold on the second, which was disappointing.
Breakfast was below expectations — instant coffee, artificial juice, and overall not very fresh or healthy. The best part was the fresh fruit (watermelon and pineapple). I wish they put a little more effort into breakfast, as other services were quite good.
On the positive side, the bathroom and hairdryer were in good condition. However, it was a bit inconvenient to have to go to reception to make a hot drink.
Overall, it’s a charming place with potential, but there’s definitely room for improvement in comfort and...
Read moreWe stayed here two nights during our recent trip to Peru. We arrived after dark and had difficulty finding a place to eat due to the language barrier and also due to the restaurant at the hotel not being open. We took a tuktuk to the main square and found a nice restaurant there though.
The hotel has lovely trees and plants and is in a gorgeous location. It is charming in appearance. The view from our room balcony was stupendous!
But the rooms are quite out of date. The bed was horribly hard and extremely uncomfortable. The room safe did not work. We found a dark hair in our bed. It was late and we were exhausted so we didn’t try to complain. It was disgusting.
The breakfast was sparse. Scrambled eggs were cold; small pieces of a type of hot dog were also cold. There was meat and cheese and breads. There was a microwave and a toaster. The coffee was not good.
The person at the desk did not speak English which made everything more difficult. Granted we don’t speak Spanish either so communication was...
Read morePros: The gardens are beautiful, and the room was cute. The staff member who checked us in was helpful. The pillows and bed were reasonably comfortable. Breakfast was decent and offered an adequate selection.||Cons: The heater in our room was a portable space heater, and it didn't work properly, so the room was very cold. In the other room, our family had, there was a wall heater, and it seemed to do a better job. Both rooms had NO hot water, not even lukewarm. The lobby sign indicated that the restaurant offered dinner service, but when we entered, we were told that they were not open for dinner. The location is noisy with lots of traffic and barking dogs, so bring earplugs or use a white noise app.||With the beautiful view and the gorgeous grounds, this place has a ton of potential, but a few key upgrades are needed. If you do choose to stay here, the restaurant, Native, is a 5-6 minute walk, and we found excellent food and...
