Returning to Lizzy Wasi in Urubamba felt like visiting a good old friend you haven’t seen for a while. My wife and I last visited Urubamba back in April 2011, before getting married. We stayed just 1 night at Lizzy’s place but it was such a wonderful experience that we promised ourselves to return one day to spend more time at this lovely boutique hotel. And we kept our promise, 14 years later we returned to the Sacred Valley with our 4 year old son and a friend couple. There was no doubt in our minds that we would stay in Lizzy Wasi. Everything went smooth right from the start. Our reservation was handled very professionally, and so was our pick up service from Cusco airport. We booked a large family room with a queen sized bed and two single beds, which proved to be just perfect for the three of us. The hotel had grown since the last time we visited but the magical charm was the same. The gardens were beautifully kept with lots of flowers and fruit trees that our son enjoyed exploring every day, including a very approachable llama. The hotel has an own restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is very diverse and the dishes were all finger-licking good!! I can especially recommend the chupe de quinoa to anybody who needs a warm soup to reenergize after a day exercising outdoors. The staff at the restaurant, Jovita and Estefany, always went out of their way to be courteous to us and to satisfy all our wishes. A big advantage of the hotel is that it is located outside the busy centre but still in close vicinity to the bus station and the local market, which can be reached either by foot or moto taxi. The hotel also organizes transport in comfortable taxis to nearby attractions in Ollantaytambo, Moray and Pisac, and also to Cusco, all at very reasonable prices. And for the aching body, the hotel organizes massages by an external service provider, which my wife happily used twice. Last but not least, I should mention Inti and Christian, the reservation and hotel managers, who were always ready to provide any help or advice we needed. All in all, our stay exceeded our expectations by far and we are sure to return again in a hopefully not too distant future. Sullpayki, wayquikuna, panaykuna,...

They had fire pits outside, hammocks, two netted trampolines and LOTS of flowers, green spaces and spectacular mountain views. The staff are very kind, attentive and welcoming; always ready to attend to your needs. There was hot and cold water in the shower and the sinks and the rooms are cleaned everyday as long as you leave your key out for room service. The rooms are quite spacious and come with their own private balconies (either on the ground or second floor). The beds are large and very comfortable. Urubamba isn't very cold compared to the centre of Cusco but it can get chilly at night. If the quilt isn't warm enough you can always request plush blankets (which my mother-in-law did and which were provided quickly). My only complaint while staying here would be the food. The rooms came with breakfast but having food allergies (vegan, gluten and lactose intolerant) there was nothing in the main breakfast menu that I could have, I therefore had to order a fruit salad separately which came at an extra cost (not impressive if the room comes with breakfast). I suggest that the management try to include gluten and lactose free options in their breakfast (which could be something as simple as a large fruit bowl or quinoa porridge with nut milk) and main menus as well as vegan options. It may not be in demand but it honestly is simple and regular, basic ingredients can be used for these; nothing special. You can also just opt to eat out since food is relatively cheap in Cusco and there are many places with menus for 10 soles (or less). If you're on a raw diet the market is nearby and fruit is also relatively cheap. You can ask the hotel to provide cutlery and plates to your room. Apart from the food, it was a wonderful stay and I would recommend it! If you're budget travelling, then renting a house (or airbnb) for a week (or for however long you plan to stay) would be a LOT more economical and you would also save money food wise (having a kitchen and the freedom to prepare...
Read moreArrived at the Lizzy Wasi just around lunchtime, the approach via a dusty road was slightly daunting, however once the gates opened we were welcomed by Inti and his colleague.||We were in room 7, a beautiful room with an open fire and en-suite facilities., plus a whacking great bed!!!||I have to say the garden setting was really, really pleasant. We had lunch the 1st afternoon enjoying the winter sun and the peace and quiet of the gardens. Beautiful flowers were everywhere, some jasmine too with a wonderful perfume characteristic of that plant. I was also introduced to the delights if Chicha MoradA too, lovely drink.||There is also a stream which runs in a stone culvert around the garden in the entrance, which brigs a lovely sound and feel to the place. ||There was firewood and a fireplace begging to be lit in our room and it created a lovely warm glow, and some warmth to the room when we returned for the 1st evening.||Breakfast was a buffet affair with plenty of fresh fruit, cold meat and cheese, tea. coffee, juice and warm local foodstuffs to enjoy. There were warm Peruvian breakfast dishes too, with eggs, bread, butter, jam, etc. ||The restaurant is open in the evenings and we were only there for 2 nights and on both occasions we enjoyed the food, Peruvian dishes, i cant recall what they were called, but i would say the food served was beyond expectation for a small establishment.||Inti was kind enough to organise a lift to Ollantaytambo and for the same driver to collect us later in the afternoon which very much appreciated.||All in all very good value for money, great location for exploring the surrounding areas, and very helpful staff...
