Belmond Rio Sagrado is a truly special place. The setting is spectacular — a lush garden full of beautiful plants and flowers, right by the river, with stunning views and complete peace. It feels like a hidden sanctuary, and the presence of six friendly alpacas you can feed just adds to the charm.||Our room was beautiful, with great views and a thoughtful layout. Everything we needed was there, including a complimentary minibar (except alcohol), and the design felt relaxed but elegant. It was a little cold at first, but the staff fixed that right away — they were quick, kind, and efficient.||Dinner at El Huerto was fantastic — a modern take on Peruvian cuisine with ingredients straight from their garden, which you can actually tour. The creativity in the kitchen really impressed us. The cocktails were also excellent, especially their house creation with whiskey and tangerine juice — one of the best we had on our trip.||Breakfast was another highlight. There were lots of fresh, healthy options, and the pastries and bread were truly outstanding — the pain au chocolat could easily rival those in France.||The spa was beautifully set up and the treatment I received was excellent — very professional and relaxing. Definitely worth it.||But what really made the stay unforgettable was the staff. Everyone we met was kind, warm, and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Special thanks to Edmon and Sabrina at El Huerto, who made every meal feel like a welcome-home experience, and to Javier and the gardener (whose name I sadly can’t spell), who gave us a wonderful garden tour in the morning. Housekeeping was also excellent — the room was always spotless. Every single person had such a lovely and personable energy. It’s rare to see a team where everyone is so genuinely caring.||The only thing I would suggest is the addition of a small gym or quiet space for stretching — that’s the one thing we missed.||Still, this is one of those places you don’t forget. A peaceful, beautiful hotel in an extraordinary setting — made even better by the...
Read moreA Stunning Retreat in the Sacred Valley Our stay at the Rio Sagrado Belmond was unforgettable, and it all started with the incredible service from Peru Eco Expedition. Daniel, who picked us up from the airport, made the journey special by taking us to a fascinating textile demonstration on the way to the property.
The Rio Sagrado is a breathtaking property with lush landscapes, beautifully maintained grounds, and plenty of places to wander and relax. Our room was perfect—spacious, comfortable, and with incredible views. The heated pool was a wonderful touch and made it easy to unwind after exploring the Sacred Valley.
Breakfast was a highlight—everything was fresh and delicious, and the French toast was so good we’re still thinking about it! (We’d love to get that recipe.) However, lunch and dinner at the restaurant felt repetitive after a while, so it would be great to see more variety in the menu.
Compared to the Miraflores Belmond, we did feel the welcome lacked a bit of the same warmth—there was no welcome drink, and the check-in process felt a bit rushed. That said, the staff on the property were kind and attentive overall.
One of the best parts of our stay was feeding the alpacas—an unforgettable and charming experience! They roam the property like they own it, and their presence adds such a unique and special touch to the atmosphere.
Another huge plus is the train station located right at the hotel, which made our trip to Machu Picchu seamless and stress-free.
Overall, the Rio Sagrado Belmond is a stunning retreat and a perfect place to relax while exploring the Sacred Valley. With a little more attention to the welcome experience and some updates to the restaurant menu, it could truly match the high standard set by its sister property...
Read moreBeautiful location with amazing views of the Urubamba River, adjacent mountains, and gorgeous River Bank gardens. Views from our room were spectacular, the bed very comfortable, sheets of the highest quality, heated bathroom floor, the best rain shower head and shower I've ever experienced. The restaurant below at River level had generally very good service and an attentive manager Xavier and waiter Dany, the finest dining linen I've ever seen, an amazing assortment of rolls and indigenous seeds and granola and omelets you can imagine for breakfast, and if you want an evening snack their light meals are large and tasty.. Try the crispy chicken fingers with quinoa. Breakfast service was a little slow on the hot items and lattes and some of the young women serving in the dining room speak very little English so things can get confusing. The charge for exchanging currency is 10% which seems unnecessarily steep! Why not just do away with the charge and limit the maximum amount you can exchange? It seems a disservice when you are focusing on service. The stairs down to the rooms and then further down to the restaurant then all the way back to reception can be challenging for those who may have limited mobility. In fact anyone with weak knees should think twice about using this hotel keeping in mind that it is at 9,000 FT elevation. There is a golf cart but it was not offered to us so I suppose getting around could be arranged. We look forward to trying the Belmont monasterio and the...
