Good beds -- we slept very well; good shower -- plenty of hot water; the breakfast was also fine -- the usual light "continental breakfast" plus one egg cooked to order. The staff was also quite friendly; all know their way around Arequipa and gave good advice. Oddments are that potable water is not supplied -- you have to go to the store and buy your own. (The hotel also sells bottled water, but at about twice the store price.) The outdoor patio for the breakfast was a little cold in the early morning. And finally, the walk to the Plaza de Armas is indeed 15 minutes, but a brisk 15 minutes with not much but empty streets between the hotel and downtown All in all, a clean, comfortable, newish hostal for a good price. (Others have mentioned that the building is a historic one. That's true, but the rooms in the back patio are relatively new, cement and I imagine cement block construction. One odd thing in the bathroom is that there's a glass shelf just a few inches above the sink for toiletries -- but it blocks half the sink and makes it tough to lean over and wash your face. Read moreWe had a very nice stay in this lovely hotel. It's a really authentic building with lots of space, inside and outside. Braulio helped us a lot. One of us got sick and he helped us with resceduling bus tickets, provided hot water all day long and asked multiple times if he could do something for us.||||They speak English perfectly, even the best we come across so far after 3 weeks in Peru.||||They also provided laundry service, even on Saterday and the shower is wonderful. Good beds also and the rooms are quite big.||||The owner even allowed us to stay in the room until 20h00 (to catch the night bus) without any additional cost.||||We would recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in Arequipa. Main square is a short walk of...
Read moreHighly recommended!!! This was the best place we stayed in our whole trip in Peru - Lima, Nazca, Cusco, Aguas Calientes, Arequipa and half a dozen more places. The atmosphere is unique. This is probably the thing we liked most. You cannot find this in many places. The service of the whole staff was extremely professional - made us feel so welcomed I had a feeling I'm visiting and old friend of mine :). The cleanliness of the rooms was without compromise. I really cannot think of a single thing I would recommend to be improved - everything was just perfect. The location is only one kilometer from the main plaza - a perfect walk after dinner. Admirations to the whole crew! Would visit you again if we...
