Jessa guests house — Hotel in Cebu

We stayed here because of the many 5-star reviews and even the occasional claim that the breakfast was the best!

Well, I feel compelled to bring it down a little. Don't get me wrong, for the price point it is not too bad.

However, it is not a 5 star establishment...

The staff were delightful and friendly, although not entirely convincing when answering queries about local buses, tours, etc.

The room was a good size and the AC was good. The bathroom was pretty bad though overall - watch out for room 5. The toilet leaks and the 'hot water' is... Well, stone cold. The shower head is also installed at a very curious angle.

I'm beginning to realise that breakfasts in the Philippines are not particularly good in general, and the one here is no different. It's plain rice or bread, with unseasoned egg and your choice of ham, bacon or corned beef hash. It's fine - but nothing to write home about... Not helped by 3-in-1 coffee being the option.

I don't mean this to be scathing, it's just meant to be more realistic that the collection of beaming reviews. I mean, I would stay again. The area is quieter, the 'beach' 2 mins walk away does have turtles milling around, and if you rent a moped you can get in and out of town easily... Which you will want to do, because there is nowhere to eat near this place except JGs grill (which is pleasant enough!)(There is also a nearby resort, which was a little pricey and I'm not even sure they welcome...

I am very happy with my stay here at Jessa guest house. The staff were all incredible and always on hand to respond to any queries - I was even able to extend an extra night for a very reasonable rate Jgs restaurant just up the road had decent food, and they can deliver if you give them a call.

Of course the location might be an issue for some people, I walk everywhere so it was no problem for me to get to the town centre in the evenings - and it's always a compromise because the hotels closer to the commercial areas are way...

Very friendly person running it. Woke up at 3am to make us breakfast before we left. Rooms are decent for what you pay Breakfast is not bad but choices are limited Snorkels are free to lend, motor bikes for rent for a decent price All in all a good place to stay at...
