I recently stayed at Puy-an Hostel and overall, it was a great experience. The place is new, so everything is clean and looks great. Each bunk bed has its own outlets and lights, which is very convenient 👌. The price is cheap and affordable, making it a great option for budget travelers. There’s a strong wifi too which is great for nomads.
The location is fantastic, within walking distance to the beach and many nearby restaurants and cafes. However, the top bunk is a bit hard to reach, which can be a slight inconvenience. Also, there's no common kitchen available, which would have been a nice addition.
One downside was the lack of visible rules for guests. There was a group that got very noisy around midnight and interrupted my sleep. I hope the hostel will put up warning signs to encourage peace and quiet during certain hours.
The bathroom is clean and has a bidet, but there are no rugs around, which would be a nice touch.
Overall, for the price and location, I would rate my stay 5/5. I hope they can maintain the current state of the hostel since it’s new, and it will be interesting to see how it holds up in a year. Adding a common kitchen and implementing quiet hours would make it...
Read moreGood clean dorms and bathrooms, has lockers and good functioning a/c that they live on all day. Good location central. Kind staff. However they did ask me to tip the guide hours after the tour which I thought was incredibly odd.. For reference I usually tip double the norm to guides in the past honestly (ha giang loop, many treks in latin america, Indonesia, Nepal, India ect.) The guide was super friendly and kind and I really wanted to tip because I understand often the wage given is almost nothing so they count on tips but with that being said my phone suffered water damage and I had to pay 1300 php to repair…it now works but the camera is still affected. Which I was realizing during the tour my phone getting wet. Also in general the tour is very anticlimactic personally…. It dosen’t last that long only a few lil jumps, sights are breathtaking did it since recommended from friends. You would think with the price of the tour of 2000 pesos…. For two ish hours, the guide would be compensated somewhat well….. and the food provided for the tour was very mediocre too… Again obviously the hostel isin’t the tour company but they did bring up tipping to me…....
