I have a somewhat conflicted view of Hotel Uno, but I stayed there for several nights & rebooked a room twice when I could have changed hotels, so on balance I'd give the hotel a reasonable pass. I'm traveling on a budget & Uno was reasonably priced for me. I originally booked through Expedia, which I've used quite a bit, and was given a room overlooking the main road, with 2 single beds. The room was functional & the bed sheets, towels etc clean. They provided soap and there were glasses provided. Two power points by the bed, and free wifi. When I wanted to extend my stay a price was listed on Google Maps, but when I asked if I could have another room at that rate they insisted I use 'Expedia'. Actually Agoda had the best rate for that night. However, the water from the shower didn't get away & the bathroom floor flooded. And wifi didn't reach that room. I went to the front desk & the young woman there promptly sent a maintenance person to check things. I was also promptly relocated to another room. So full marks to the front desk on that issue. I booked another night with Expedia & no problems. Overall I had 3 sticking points. First, not being able to just go to the front desk & pay the tariff for a room directly. Second, I thought breakfast was very average. Some room tariffs qualify for a free breakfast. I paid 135p for an egg & toast, and coffee. The egg was, in my opinion, average. Three slices of toasted bread sliced corner to corner & some scrapings of butter. The menu, as I understood it, meant jam should have been provided. When I enquired it seemed they'd run out &/or couldn't get more. I also felt the manner of the restaurant staff wasn't friendly. After that I went out for street food, 2 eggs & rice, with hot water for the coffee I had with me, which cost 50p. Third, and others may be ok about it, but one thing provided free, particularly in one room I was in, was lots of bugs. Having said all that, the Uno appears to be a popular hotel. It has a function room & a certain amount of old-world charm. It's very well located, near to the Roxas night markets, convenience stores etc. San Pedro Cathedral isn't too far away. Would I recommend Uno? Yes, and I guess no where nowhere is perfect, but for feeling comfortable in a hotel & it's location and price then overall Uno is worth...
Read moreI have travelled all over the globe and this Hotel is the worst I have ever had to experience . The hotel room resembled a cell . Me and my partner arrived at Hotel Uno Davao City from Manila at 2am in the morning due to a late flight . We were initially told by the receptionist the Internet wasn't functioning and we then proceeded to the room to be welcomed by what i can only describe as an awful sight . The room was shabby beyond belief as shown in the photos , the wardrobe had laminate missing and subsequently was engraved with dirt . The aircon unit was filthy with missing control knobs and there was some sort of repairs made to the walls with brown substance onto original grey panels . THE BATHROOM was a health risk and so enter at your own risk especially when a cockroach came from behind the toilet . |With it being so late and we were so tired after our long day we decided to stay but to sleep in our clothes with the lights on,just incase of the cockroaches plus what else could we do with it being so late to make alternative arrangements.|Please read this review of this horrendous experience to save anybody else from going...
