Dear Hotel Manager,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at La Anclar Hotel in Davao City on the night of November 23, 2024.
Upon entering the room, I noticed an unpleasant smell. Initially, I assumed it might be typical, but upon further inspection, I discovered several concerning issues:
The soap placed on the bathroom sink was unsealed, raising questions about hygiene standards. There was one towel in the bathroom and another placed on a chair, which seemed unusual. When I lay on the bed, I found hair on the blanket, further indicating that the room had not been properly cleaned. I refrained from calling the front desk, assuming that the room had already been prepared for check-in. However, when I spoke with the housekeeper the next morning, she mentioned that towels should be properly arranged on the bed as a sign that the room is ready and cleaned. This confirmed my concerns about the room's readiness and cleanliness.
I am deeply disappointed with this experience. It is unacceptable for a hotel to provide such poor hygiene and cleanliness standards. My primary concern is the risk of contracting a disease due to unchanged towels, beddings, and pillowcases.
I urgently request an immediate explanation for these lapses in service and clarity on the steps your team will take to prevent such incidents in the future. Additionally, I expect an assurance regarding how you would address any health concerns resulting from this experience, including potential medical expenses should they arise.
I hope to receive a prompt and satisfactory response to...
Read moreThe La Anclar offers cheap accommodation to solo backpackers like myself. I checked in via Travelbook.ph which cost me Php 710 (US$ 15.20) per night. The room was small but more than enough for backpackers. ||||The upside:||||1. Adequate room with clean working bathroom with toilet and hot shower working good. ||2. Bed is very comfy. ||3. Very stable and speedy internet connection in Room 213. ||4. Minimal to no noise at all. ||5. Location is excellent. Just a few steps away from main thoroughfares, convenience stores and many city tourist spots are just a few blocks away. I just walked to the Museo Dabawenyo and D'Bone Collector Museum. ||6. With complimentary breakfast consisted of a cup of rice, an egg and another dish. Fruit sometimes. ||||The downside:||||1. Water glass and coffee cups are not available most of the time. For two days, I was told by the receptionist that they don't have the key to their kitchen. ||2. Their House Rules card says that they clean the room regularly only to find out that you have to tell the reception to get it done. ||3. AC in Room 213 already saw its best days.||4. TV is the old tube-type. ||5. Security guard is not present in some hours in the evening. Davao is one of SEA's safest cities but we will never know. ||||Overall, my stay at La Anclar is good but the small drawbacks affected the experience (c'mon, I cannot drink coffee without a cup and coffee is the nectar of...
Read moreThe hotel is located at the heart of downtown - in the middle of Davao City’s university belt. The area is always lively and has something going on. It’s walkable and you can just walk to get to places. It’s also close to jeepneys or tricycle so you can commute farther. Taxis also pass by. There’s many street foods and karenderia surrounding the hotel you’ll never get hungry. There was also a water dispenser available in the hallway if ever you are thirsty.
The downside is that the hotel rooms are pretty small and not exactly luxurious. It is of great value so you get what you paid for. It’s acceptably clean but there were moments that I saw a few cockroaches in the room and the bathroom. There is free breakfast but the portion sizes are very small and not much options available (not a buffet breakfast but a plate that they cook for you after your order).
If you are not very choosy and don’t mind the inconveniences that I mentioned above then this place is not bad. It is of great value especially for its...
