this is just terrible service, we paid 9,000 pesos for two nights, one of which was New Year's. On New Year's Day they closed the restaurant at 10 pm, and at the pool bar you could only buy juice and beer. They also didn’t ask us for money right away and we went to pay at the reception. After paying, they called us in our room and asked us to pay everything again... When we said that we had paid everything, they said that they would come to us now, since we had to sign. After that, we drank drinks from above at the bar, or rather only juice and beer, and again they didn’t ask us for money, they asked us for the room number. Logically, we waited for payment upon check-out from the hotel and went to bed. AT 1 AM THEY KNOCK ON OUR DOOR and ask us to pay the bill, after which we ask for change and wait another 10-15 minutes for him to return, but he does not return. Please note that we were already asleep. I called the reception and made a scandal, asked not to disturb us at night and give the change tomorrow afternoon. We got our change back, BUT! When we checked out of the hotel they demanded that we pay everything for that night…. We spent half an hour explaining that we had already paid for everything and that, for this reason, the employee woke us up in the middle of the night... Then they asked to bring our card, allegedly they lost the receipts and if they don’t find them, they will write off the money, we are talking about 50 € all this time. My boyfriend brought the card and they made a test withdrawal and returned it back. As soon as we left the hotel, they took the money again and did not return it. We called them, they first found only one of our receipts, for half an hour we talked in circles in circles, asking the same questions. Then, a person who at least spoke English, most likely a manager, finally came to the phone and said that everything was okay and the money would be returned to us. The money was never returned... Apart from all this on New Year's Day, there was absolutely no celebration. They could put on a DJ, pour a glass of cheap prosecco, or at least add cocktails to the menu so that you could buy them at the bar... During the buffet, they grilled on the roof and squeezed people right into the white smoke from the grill, there was so much smoke a lot of it was hard to breathe. I AM SHOCKED BY THIS ESTABLISHMENT and their organization. But the interior and rooms are beautiful... TRASH The pool is also dirty and they directly write that they do not monitor your safety, if...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this hotel due to the way a serious incident was handled.I booked and paid for two rooms for three nights, specifically requesting that we will stay on the same floor. While this was accommodated for the first two nights, an unexpected and distressing incident occurred on the third morning that left my companions deeply scarred. Hotel management quickly moved their room to a different floor for their safety. When I tried to check on my companions, I was denied access to the floor they were transferred to, despite being the one who booked and paid for both rooms using my email account. I repeatedly explained this to Val at the front desk, but she showed no empathy for the situation and only granted me access after persistent efforts.Wanting to discuss the incident further and seek corrective action, I asked to speak with the manager, Lily. Val told me Lily is not around, and only the assistant manager was present. Divine appeared and claimed to be the manager. Divine, who is the assistant manager, insisted repeatedly and repeatedly that she is the manager. I find this misleading and unprofessional. Lily, who was not to be present, suddenly appeared during our confrontation with Divine.Divine’s strong and dismissive attitude was not appropriate for someone in her position, especially during such a sensitive time.Overall, I am very dissatisfied with how this situation was handled, Val and Divine particularly the lack of transparency and empathy from their clients. I hope Maayo Hotel takes this feedback seriously and implements improvements in staff training and crisis management choosing the right person for this job. Clearly, Divine is not one of the right person...
Read moreWe stayed in Cebu’s first and only wellness hotel, Maayo Hotel for the two days. “Maayo” is a Cebuano term which means good. Evidently, the hotel holds true to its name.
The dinner buffet at their Uma Restaurant offers unforgettable dishes and desserts such as the sweet and sour barracuda, beef shank, organic lechon, cassava cake, bolognese pasta and cake pops.
The outdoor pool of the hotel is every chair designer’s delight as it showcases the finest resort furniture crafted by Cebuanos. From the rooftop, you can see the famous Fernan bridge and the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue.
For each room, they uphold the value of color therapy, believing that colors have different attributes and possible medical benefits. Our room was mustard yellow. Other rooms have color themes like forest green and powder blue.
Green plants complement with the wooden and woven pieces at the hotel. One of the materials commonly used is the rattan or locally called “uway”. The wooden strips are both strong and pliable, making it the perfect material for every furniture designer’s dream piece.
There are some pieces made by Internationally-acclaimed and Cebu-based industrial designer Kenneth Cobonpue like the green bloom chairs in the reception area.
If you are into minimalist Asian interior design, this is the place for you. And since it is a wellness hotel, you can expect the relaxing aroma of hibiscus in their premises and the warmth of Cebuano hospitality among...
