One Hive Hotel and Suites — Hotel in Mindanao

The receptionist greeted us with a smile, very accommodating and friendly, great first impression of hotel. We called them on a short notice 2 days ahead of our arrival and staff who answered the phone was very polite. Although i have travelled and visited Surigao City 20 years ago, I couldn't determine exactly the time we will arrived there. In short we arrived very early at 7am, imagine check-in time was at 2pm. Nevertheless we still decide to go straight to the hotel as we were a bit tired from a 12 hour bus trip from Davao City, take chances of the availability ofnthe room and what alternatives/suggestions they can offer to us. Well well well luckily One Hive Hotel has a friendly policy to travellers. The receptionist was very helpful. She told us about the early check-in at 9am (considering room availability) and late check-out at 7pm (if room has no reservations). Earlier check-in time before 9am there is a fee of only 100php per hour. Fortunately there is a room available for us to avail the early check-in, what a relief! |The room was clean, average size for two, noted for no cockroach and no ants.👍The bathroom a bit smaller but tidy. Water pressure and hot shower commendable, very important for early riser. You must try to dine in their restaurant One Hive Cafe, the food was exceptional. This hotel is located downtown in Surigao City, with McDonalds, Jollibee, Greenwich, Chow King, Mang Inasal and Metro Shopping Center within walking range. Our room, the bumble bee room in 5th floor was very small. And just right after check in I though, "Ok, no more than one night here". Especially after getting yellow water out from the tap in the bathroom. Running the water for awhile solved it. Probably it hasn't been in use for quite some time. We ended up with 3 nights. Mostly because of the great wifi. I got 12-15mb download and 1-2mb upload, and very stable. I have stayed in 5-6 hotels in Surigao, and this has by far the best Internet so far. |Breakfast was just ok, nothing special. And with all the restaurants close by, we preferred to go out for dinners. |The hotel can't provide with two key cards, so the employees had to open our room every time we entered. We needed our card to keep the aircon/power on inside the room. Ok, for us. The staff responded fast every time we entered. Only negative is the location on the aircon. After 3 nights I catched cold. First time to try this hotel as I used to stay in parkway and I got the negative first impression. I called the hotel for reservation for 2 nights. To my surprise they only booked me for 1 night and advised that thats the only available slot and didnt apologize. I remember repeating the 2 nights when I called and she confirmed. So I have to look for another hotel the ff day.

Staff - accommodating and friendly but no empathy. Need improvement on customer service skills Room - small but clean Lighting - good TV - small and cable connection was bad. You have to fix the connection when you want to watch. Wifi - excellent. I had a strong connection all throughout my stay. Bathroom - hot and cold shower available but no foot towel or rugs. No slippers provided. Bed - average. Thin blanket and one pillow only Cabinet - only one hanger provided Breakfast - serve for 1 only. Small portion. Food - average. Nothing extra ordinary
